🇿🇦 CRIME ALERT UPDATE! The Ficksburg Livestock Traders reign of terror As indicated in the notification on the murder of Evan Sorour and attempted murder and assault of his father, Reuter, Rudi Gericke has a history of violence. In 2022, Gericke and a fellow livestock trader, Kleinjan Le Grange, were arrested for a violent incident that took place in August 2022 in the Ficksburg Golf and Country Club. Gericke and Le Grange were accused of assaulting a farmer, Morgan Barrett (45), with a golf-club. According to witnesses Gericke and Le Grange continued kicking and hitting Barrett who was also ill at that stage. Toni, Morgan’s wife, called for help outside the club. Even after they managed to get Morgan to safety and away from his attackers, Gericke and Le Grange broke a glass door and tried to break a wooden door to get into the room where Morgan was. After the incident, Toni received threats from her husband’s attackers and she took out a protection order; a court order was issued and the men’s weapons were confiscated. However, the protection order was later set aside and their weapons were returned. There were also allegations that the livestock traders had threatened to kill a number of farmers. On 8 January 2023, Rudi Gericke allegedly shot Evan Sorour 5 times.
