The Boss
With The Killers and Jake Clemons, Bruce delivers a blazing version of “Born to Run.” And it’s not even his show… At 73, this guy is an absolute madman. 🔥

Hell is a public toilet running out of loo roll. This place has decided: NOT TODAY, SATAN. A back-up for the back-up for the back-up for the back-up. TWO TIERS. And then — because apparently that still wasn’t structurally reassuring enough — a load-bearing emergency roll in the middle. This isn’t a toilet-roll holder. It’s a toilet-roll survival bunker. I have never felt safer in a public toilet.

MY BOOK NOW OUT IN AMERICA AND CANADA! Eight years ago, on my second morning on Australian radio, a listener sent me four words. "No one invited you." A four-word smart bomb. If Shakespeare was alive in these days of trolls, he'd have been proud of that banger. I thought about him today, because UNSCRIPT — my book about speaking like yourself, telling better stories, and getting over the fear of doing either — is out now in America and Canada. Nobody invited me there either. Going anyway. Came out in the UK a few weeks back too. Finally. So what is it. It's not a self-help book. No system. No morning routine. No optimising. No 10x anything. It came out of thirty years of live radio, which is really thirty years of stumbling, and working out very early how to shift my mindset and my heart with as little effort as possible. Because I have to start talking at 6am whether I feel inspired or not. Confidence is overrated, mindset and momentum matter way more. The light goes red and off you go. So it's everything I've learnt, and a framework for having better conversations. Because life is a series of conversations. Two kinds, really. The ones with everyone else — at home, at work, at the party you didn't want to go to. And the one running inside your own head, where for some reason we heckle ourselves! And it's about this. You're running a script. We all are. The capable voice at work. The fine-thanks voice at the school gate. The version of you that sounds sorted and lands on nobody. You've run it so long you've forgotten it was ever a performance, and the whole time it's costing you the one thing you actually want — for people to feel like they've met you. The words are about 7% of it. The book is about the other 93%. It's also funny, which in this section of the bookshop is needed surrounded by very talented and very very serious people in big chunky glasses. Mine are on order. guruwear.com. And the messages I'm getting from readers are unlike anything I've had for anything else I've ever made. Thank you for that. It's the best part of all of it. Your magic is in the mess. Out now in the US and Canada.

Are you also the mook who designated home printer boss? There are things they don’t tell you when you get married. When I stood there saying, “I do,” I thought I was agreeing to love, honour and cherish. “And do you, Christian, also promise to take responsibility for the home printer?” Because apparently I did. Somewhere in the small print of my wedding vows: For richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, in paper jams and low cyan. The thing just texted me this update like it was the main reactor in Chernobyl. I check the levels… Black: fine. Okay. We live another day. Cyan: critically low. Oh God. Magenta: critically low. Jesus Christ. Yellow: GONE. Hang on. WHO IN THIS FAMILY HAS BEEN PRINTING IN YELLOW? What are you printing Sarah? Sunflowers? Minions? A 400-page Coldplay tour programme? Nobody knows. I’ve ask the family on the WhatsApp chat “Has anyone been doing a lot of colour printing?” Silence. Suddenly I live with three people who’ve never heard of a printer. And why am I the Ink Warden? Why do I have to be the one who knows what cyan is? Twenty years ago you bought black ink and colour ink. Done. How can I sleep soundly tonight knowing, We’re worryingly low on magenta AND cyan And the printer never gives you useful information either. It doesn’t say: “You’ve probably got another 30 pages.” No. Just a s***ty little yellow warning triangle. ⚠️ The international symbol for: YOUR FAMILY WILL NEED TO PRINT SOMETHING URGENT AT 7.42 TOMORROW MORNING AND THIS WILL SOMEHOW BE YOUR FAULT. I didn’t choose the printer life. The printer life chose me.
