Today’s update marks a new chapter for Quake Champions as we transition the game from a free-to-play service to a paid application on Steam. Along with 30 Seasons worth of content to enjoy, all Champions are now unlocked for everyone, and most vanity content is available to equip. Battle Passes and microtransactions have been removed. Quake Champions is now available for one low price on Steam. No additional content updates are planned at this time. Layoffs are reportedly hitting The Coalition, the Xbox studio behind Gears of War.
Juan Vaca, a narrative director at the studio, confirmed that he is part of the current round of layoffs and is now looking for new opportunities.
“I am part of this round of layoffs and am seeking new opportunities,” Vaca wrote. He also added, “If your team needs a narrative director / storyteller, please reach out.”

One of the PS2’s biggest remaining hardware secrets has finally been cracked, 26 years after the console launched.
After four years of work, modder DiscoStarslayer has managed to defeat and dump the MechaCon chip, this is an important part of the PS2’s hardware because it handles the optical disc drive and is involved in the console’s anti-piracy protections.
After decapping the chip, optically dumping its contents and developing a software solution, the MechaCon can now be preserved and studied.
The MechaCon’s contents can now be preserved and studied instead of remaining locked inside the original hardware.
That could lead to new PS2 mods, better emulation, homebrew improvements, and potentially a proper optical drive emulator (ODE).

MGM asked me to do exactly what you’re describing after I finished Travelers, just before the pandemic. New and legacy characters working together, facing an entirely new enemy, several years after the events of Continuum. (in which I included a hint of the setting) I wrote a pilot I was proud of and MGM seemed excited, but obviously the timing could not have been worse. I can only presume Amazon didn’t like it. I was 100 percent behind Martin and his team, but that was even more heartbreaking because they got so close.
In other words, we tried. Martin will go on to make something amazing. I may even have another show in me. But I have moved on.
