Sedentary living is a silent disease. Those with cardiorespiratory fitness levels in the lowest 25% face mortality rates as high—or higher—than smokers, individuals with hypertension, or those with diabetes. Meanwhile, those in the top 2.3% of VO2 max—elite fitness levels—see an 80% reduction in all-cause mortality compared to the least fit. We need to rethink how we view physical activity fundamentally. It’s not a luxury or an optional add-on—it’s a core requirement for health. Inactivity is a silent, pervasive disease, and regular movement is the antidote we all need to prioritize.
