Friendly reminder to be kind and appreciate the artists and rig artists in this space! They work so hard and spend so much time on things for us 🫶 If you find a rig or anything not to your taste that’s fine! But please keep in mind when talking about it there is a person behind each rig and art, and we don’t always see every piece and thing they did for x price immediately, or know if the set up is well calibrated or can handle certain things etc. I feel like a lot of the trending convos lately(puppeting models and model prices) have been getting comments leading into criticism to model parents that aren’t the ones making the posts, which is kinda unfair to both the person trying to show off the model they love and tweaked to how they like it and the people behind it who worked on it. It’s one thing to make a general comment about no one in particular but please keep in mind if you are posting about a specific model, the specific model parents are kinda taking that hit. Rig artists can really only guide someone so much. Much is dependent on an individual’s specific face(esp how it is resting and how that impacts mouth corners, eyes when relaxed etc), lighting, if they wear glasses, what camera/phone they use, piercings, where the camera/phone can be positioned in relation to where the individual sits/their range of motion etc etc. Adjusting these things takes time and can be continual as the individual gets used to working with parameters and learning for themselves what works for them. And some people may never delve that much into it and be happy with how it is and that is fine too, it is their model to use and work with as they please! It is not a rig artists job to handhold someone through the process, as the process will be continual adjustments to an individual’s own specific taste, environment and face. Rig artists have varying lovely styles unique to them and then when it goes to an individual every person has different preferences and set ups so even the same rig can look different with different people behind it depending how they prefer to tweak it etc. Also you can get gorgeous art for a range of prices, it is important to respect the price an artist lays out for themselves as they are the ones who know what effort and time it takes them to be worth that cost, and balance it to the amount of comms they receive and want to work on in a set period etc. if it isn’t for you it isn’t for you! That’s okay! There’s tons of other amazing artists to support! Anyway idk man, it’s fine to have opinions and critique things in general but please be cautious when it’s specific cause… then you’re kinda directing things at specific people. And it’s just important to be aware of that. I feel especially in this space as we see a lot of the same artists and rig artists around and, I don’t think we want to bring anyone down in particular unless they like scammed someone or didn’t complete a service kinda thing yknow? It’s not their fault someone commissioned them and liked their work?? Idk man just feels bad to see people’s hard work getting dragged.
