There are so many compelling reasons why councils should apply, especially the huge success seen from the trial in Salford. We've put a list of these reasons together so you can contact your councillor armed with all the necessary info. walkridegm.org.uk/2025/08/04… 2/3

🚨 URGENT ASK to help us push micromobility forwards in Greater Manchester 🛴 Your local authority has until 21/10/25 to apply for an e-scooter trial. We believe e-scooters are a crucial part of the shift away from cars, so PLEASE email your councillor asking them to apply. 1/3

If @MayorofGM @AndyBurnhamGM wants #Stockport @StockportMBC residents to #LeaveTheCarAtHome, then we need 24-hour bus lanes on key routes like the #A6, so people can see the real-time benefits of taking the bus
"I should be able to drive in the bus lane, it's always empty." 😤

The A6 from the MCR boundary to Stockport is 20 meters wide at it's minimum Here is the @BeeNetwork guide on how to design a "Multi-Lane Connector Street" "Streets for All is our approach to everything we do on streets in GM" Why aren't @BeeNetwork ensuring that in Stockport?

We'd like to know @AndyBurnhamGM how sending people walking, wheeling & cycling down dingy back alleys with no natural surveillance fits with the @greatermcr Gender Based Violence Strategy? Our urban design makes a huge difference to personal safety greatermanchester-ca.gov.uk/…
One of the many problems with forcing cyclists down backstreets and greenways is that it's like this, 50% of the time. Does this feel safe to you? We need a protected cycle route along the A6, something @StockportMBC's proposals fail to address. 1/2

Last night the decision was made to defer the Stockport A6 scheme This is only just the beginning, we need everyone involved to stick their neck out and challenge this scheme Everyone knows this scheme is sub par - we cannot let it pass
Cllrs in Stockport's Central Area Committee have voted to recommend a delay to the proposals on the A6, after concerns were shared about a lack of direct cycle lanes. However, the final decision still sits with the Lib Dem cabinet member - unless something changes from higher up

But we shouldn’t throw good money after bad. Review final scheme, with outside experts to give evidence, and ask “is this ambitious? Does it represent the future we want for Stockport?” If not, what can we change to make it ambitious? Still time to design A6 CYCLOPS junctions

When we build bigger roads, we get more traffic. Congestion briefly gets better, then the same, then worse. £Billions is spent in the process. Instead of dualling roads, what if we used the space for active travel instead? Here’s a thread on why it should happen.🧵

We've managed to show Stockport Council that the people of Stockport deserve better for the A6 But the fight to have safe cycling along the A6 has only just begun Join our discord where work behind the scenes to put pressure on councils across GM to deliver better 👇

How can we expect the @BeeNetwork to succeed when busses can't even go the quickest route! @AndyBurnhamGM
What an utterly embarrassing bus diversion caused by the prioritisation of private car owners over everyone else. I wonder if local businesses will blame lack of parking for any decline in business rather than recognising that anyone without a car can't get there? @BeeNetwork
