I had to read this twice to make sure of a cringeworthy fact; this Washington Post story on the el-Sayed exchange w “Tommy“ does not even mention that Tommy is a paid right wing political operative, a staffer for Josh Hawley. Journalistic malpractice.

It's funny how Greg Abbott and Ken Paxton are running on "Fixing Texas" when the Republicans have controlled the entire state for 30 goddamn years

Talarico: "We just found out that [Elon Musk] is almost single-handedly bankrolling this effort to install Ken Paxton in the U.S. Senate and defeat this movement...Elon Musk wants our land. He wants our water. He wants his very own personal United States senator. He is trying to buy Texas."

Helen Haines is the most generous and kind person - a woman of warmth and great personal integrity.
Since 2019 she has been the model for me as a politician. She loves her community and works extraordinarily hard to represent Indi effectively and well. She was very generous with the new crop of independents in 2022 - it's why I had these T-shirts made.
Today I'm thinking about how Helen would respond to this terrible event. I know that it would be to reach out to those who need support and love, to lead with dignity and respect, and to remind us all of the inherent goodness and decency of Australians and the strength of our democracy.

He didn’t hold back. 🇦🇺💬
From across the ocean, this Australian gives a raw, unfiltered look at modern America. It’s a perspective most people are too afraid to say out loud, but it impacts all of us, no matter where we live.
This is a global wake-up call.

'There are no consequences for the abuse hurled across the chambers by Australia’s elected representatives beyond brief parliamentary suspension amid the invariably blokey guffaws'.
So true.👏
Who are the most 94a suspects.
It's not a difficult question.

Good morning all, a morning where we mourn for the loss of civil discourse. Many fingers of blame have been pointed, may I contribute: The Courier Mail, May 2019, owned Rupert Murdoch.

Has the Australian mainstream media reflected at all on their role in this?
Someone should write a piece on the numerous times radio shock jocks and breakfast tv and late night commentators have promoted violence against politicians or public figures. #auspol #media #HelenHaines

Ni escrita un año antes del rodaje, ni producido por las mejores compañías, ni dirigida por Stanley Kubrick; logras una escena épica como esta. No es ficción; pero el piano rodando ya es cine francés 😮💨🇫🇷

Far Left, far right or centre. I don’t care what political leanings they are, but a deranged arsehole tried to kill a politician of exemplary standing in her community. This is not Australia. Put your partisanship to the side and ask yourself, is this the country we want.

All The Wrong Moves was a #2 Sunday Times Bestseller in the UK, was a @USATODAY bestseller in the US, has been reviewed over 100 times on Amazon, and, most importantly, has been well received by thousands of readers. Thank you for reading and spreading the message!!! As we approach the midterms, I believe this book has never been more important. If you haven't already, get your copy or the audiobook (narrated by ME).

NEW BBC pushes again for a date for President Trump to give his deposition in defamation suit. It was originally Oct 16 - but Trump said "matters of national importance" meant he would be unavailable.
BBC lawyers rather dryly say they now know what those "matters of national importance" were ...

Just terrible. Why on earth would anyone do this? Especially to someone who served their community so selflessly. I never thought we would see this in Australia.

They want concentration camps for migrants, violence against minorities.

Donald Trump canceled his scheduled Oct. 16 deposition in his lawsuit against the BBC because of "matters of national importance."
The BBC alerts the judge that those matters were: a rally in Dalton, Ga. and a fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago.

ALT The BBC submits this Notice to raise newly available information regarding the “matters of national importance” that Plaintiff claimed kept him from his scheduled deposition. As the BBC now knows, on October 16, Plaintiff attended and addressed a campaign rally in Dalton, Georgia, alongside Plaintiff’s favored candidates in Georgia’s upcoming U.S. Senate and gubernatorial elections. Plaintiff subsequently traveled to his resort club and residence at Mar-a-Lago for a Republican National Committee fundraising event.
