Charlie Hunter playing D'Angelo's "The Root," wielding a a custom 8-string bass/guitar combo โ€“ the upper 3 strings are bass and the bottom 5 guitar โ€“ allowing Hunter to play both parts simultaneously. He co-wrote it with Dโ€™Angelo after jamming together to Jimi Hendrix songs during the โ€œVoodooโ€ sessions at Electric Lady Studios.
