jj is actually not that dumb and is very resourceful and street smart. In s2 he solves the clue from the picture at tanneyhill and also comes up with plan for the fake key. is he impulsive and doesn't think most of the time? yes but he's not as dumb as people make him out to be.

I think SPN's greatest sin was turning so much of what was once a big deal into a joke. A single demon used to have them in a blender. The very idea of an angel used to terrify even the demons. Hell was the worst place imaginable. All of it got nerfed.
