My "Dances on a Ground" , programmed by @johnwoolrich2 , and performed by the wonderful @BenyounesQtet from last Saturday's concert @ACE_Foundation : soundcloud.com/morgan-hayes/…
Join us this evening at 7.30pm, & for the free pre-concert talk with @johnwoolrich2 & @_morgan_hayes at 6.45pm @ACE_Foundation for a fantastic evening of contemporary classical music from the @BenyounesQtet, alongside discussion & beverages! bit.ly/livingnotesconcertthr…
Performing new music tonight @ACE_Foundation #StaplefordGranary - @johnwoolrich2 @pcashian @_morgan_hayes alongside #Stravinsky #Birtwistle and #Janacek. Pre-concert talk to find out more!
Additionally, tonight's programme includes Stravinsky's 'Three Pieces for String Quartet'. The bare and enigmatic Three Pieces are in fact contrasting studies in popular, fantastic, & liturgical moods, which were later titled "Dance," "Eccentric" & "Canticle." Hear them tonight!
Janáček's String Quartet No 1, ‘Kreutzer Sonata’ is a fascinating work. Eugene Drucker wrote a fantastic article for The Guardian back in 2010 about the inspiration behind Janáček's late Quartets. See here: theguardian.com/music/2010/f… and hear the @BenyounesQtet perform it tomorrow!

So pleased that my first post-illness concert will be the @NotesLiving gig @ACE_Foundation this Saturday to hear the brilliant @BenyounesQtet perform a great programme, including @johnwoolrich2’s Villanesca, of which I am very proud to be a dedicatee.
Also in Saturday's programme: Three Fugues from The Art of Fugue: Contrapunctus VII, XII & XVII by Johann Sebastian Bach, arranged by Harrison Birtwistle for String Quartet. These were premiered in 2008 @snapemaltings by the #ArdittiQuartet. bit.ly/livingnotesconcertthr… #Birtwistle
@johnwoolrich2's 'A Book of Inventions' is a ‘jigsaw’ gradually being pieced together to reveal a whole. It is the over-arching title of a set of six string quartets, of which Villanesca will be performed this Saturday 6th April @ACE_Foundation. Tickets: bit.ly/livingnotesconcertthr…
@ACE_Foundation is a stunning location for spending an evening listening to an eclectic mix of contemporary classical music. @NotesLiving is unique: Living composers attend the evening, to share with audiences the thought processes behind their works. bit.ly/livingnotesconcertthr…
This Saturday also features in its programme Philip Cashian’s ‘Samain’ for String Quartet, performed by the @BenyounesQtet. Samain was written in 2011, and is in four short movements. It’s based on the painting of the same name by surrealist Leonora Carrington. 🎨🎻
‘Dances on a Ground’ - The ground bass, a type of theme-and-variations favoured by English composers from Purcell to Britten, receives a 21st-century makeover next week. @_morgan_hayes’s piece features in bit.ly/livingnotesconcertthr… on Sat 6 April @ACE_Foundation @BenyounesQtet 🎶
An addition to our programme on Saturday 6 April @ACE_Foundation. We are delighted to performing music by @_morgan_hayes, in addition to music by @pcashian @johnwoolrich2, Stravinsky, Bach/Birtwistle & Janáček. Pre-concert talk with Morgan and John at 6.45pm. @BenyounesQtet
A few photos from the last Living Notes concert, concerts in which composers discuss their works with live performances of the music. Next up, the @BenyounesQtet treat #Cambridge #Stapleford & #SaffronWalden on Saturday 6 April, 7.30pm @ACE_Foundation bit.ly/livingnotesconcertthr… 🎶
As described by The Times “The polish of the @BenyounesQtet was new... they already seem seasoned veterans with their tight ensemble and confident projection.” Catch them @ACE_Foundation on Saturday 6th April, 7.30pm, one month today! ➡️🎫🎟 Bit.ly/livingnotesconcertthr… – at Cambridge, England
