Chris, you are verging on hysterical. Like a parrot, incessantly repeating the same trope into the void, irrespective of its irrelevance and inefficacy. A record stuck on repeat. Broken and repetitive. There is no comparison between a two century old traditional, religious and cultural procession with a make-believe sectarian inspired Republican coat-trailing exercise.

✅️No evidence that a border poll is close ✅️NI's economy transformed since 1998 ✅️cost of living that is a fraction of RoI ✅️security & opportunities of being part of the world's 6th economy John's right. The constitutional argument is already lost. But not by unionism
"Unionists are affronted when Northern Ireland is called a ‘failed state’ but the figures speak for themselves. From living standards to infant mortality, the population is being failed when compared to their counterparts in the south." John Manley reflects on new comparative analysis which shows people in the Republic are better off in terms of living standards, life expectancy and educational outcomes. Our memorial to writer and Christian apologist CS Lewis is inscribed with words from an address he gave entitled Is Theology Poetry: ‘I believe in Christianity as I believe the Sun has risen, not only because I see it but because by it I see everything else’. #31DaysOfGraves #Faith

The outrage machine has a new target, and his name is Shane Gillis. Gillis hosted Saturday Night Live on Oct. 10. In his monologue he talked about his weight, going back to the gym, and roasting his own family. One joke about what women wear to the gym, "I didn't know women just dress like whores now," set off the online mob. Critics are calling it misogynistic. CNN reports SNL is staying quiet. Here's the thing: this is a comedian, doing stand-up, on a comedy show. He's crude. He's always been crude. That's exactly why millions of people pay to see him. The same crowd that cheers "edgy" comedy when it punches right suddenly discovers its fainting couch when a guy from Pennsylvania jokes about gym shorts. You don't have to like the joke. You don't have to laugh. But the moment we decide comedians need permission from the internet to tell jokes, comedy is dead. Here's the whole set. Watch it yourself and decide: was it actually offensive, or just funny to the wrong people?

I have many differences with @RhonddaBryant but he is correct on the Budget for Northern Ireland. We have to start living within our means and the constant demand for more money from Westminster is unsustainable. The extra money should be accepted and the nurses could be paid.

Great shout @BenLowry2 👏🏻 @BBC
Could we please have a specific, lengthy BBC series on all the global good that was done to advance civilisation. We've heard plenty about the bad stuff

🚨🗣UPDATE GARVAGHY: PSNI Chief Constable decision-making was 'NOT political, but purely operational' as Jon Burrows raises concerns over "two-tier policing" 🎥🎤@uuponline Leader @JonBurrowsMLA was speaking following a meeting with PSNI Chief Constable Jon Boutcher. Mr Burrows told Chief Reporter @jamesgould23 that the Chief Constable had made this clear to him "point blank" and that he would take him at his word. He added that he would "keep an eye on the judicial review." It follows the Secretary of State's intervention on Friday night to ban the parade after receiving advice from the Chief Constable. Mr Boutcher had advised Sir Chris Bryant that allowing the parade to proceed could lead to serious disorder, with potentially "catastrophic" consequences. More on-air and online.

🎥 Breaking the law because you disagree with it is not a new road for Sinn Féin. Jon Burrows MLA reminded the Assembly where the argument that there is "no alternative" has led before: town centres bombed, children orphaned, women widowed, and the murders of three year old Johnathan Ball and 12 year old Tim Parry in Warrington. The rule of law applies to us all.

There is no evidence that Irish Unity is remotely possible, or that a unitary state would in any way be prepared to accommodate Unionist culture & traditions. The sectarianism displayed at Garvaghy Rd was plain for all the world to see and made talk of a ‘new Ireland’ redundant.
❌ Northern Ireland can’t work & won’t work 🟧 The pillars of the old Orange state; UUP governed Stormont, B Specials, UDR, RUC, Unionist civil service, Unionist dominated business community & the big influence of the Orange Order are all now gone 💚 The only future is unity

Is degrowth now Alliance policy for Northern Ireland farming? After Andrew Muir told the Belfast Telegraph that if people keep opposing him, we have too big a herd, Deputy Leader Diana Armstrong MLA put the question to his party directly. Our family farms deserve an answer.

Jon Burrows is on fire. Telling Gerry Carroll and Michelle that their few extra votes will come at the expense of those they encouraged to break the law having criminal records which will affect their lives.

Your new pal Brendan McKenna called the Orangemen “f**kers.” Mary Lou agreed when unionists were called “bast**ds.” Column Eastwood demonised Orangeism in Londonderry. The Orange culture was described as sectarian, outrageously compared to the KKK. The threat of violence stopped the police from doing their job. You didn't take issue with any of that. Not a single comment. In fact, you stood alongside it, positioning yourself as the great and the good, desperate for the attention and platform it provided you. It’s that type of opportunistic electioneering that turned Drumcree into something it never needed to be. An opportunity for real reconciliation forfeited in favour of a sectarian display of hate of fellow citizens.

Ah, for God's sake, does nobody have a Google these days? @mclaren_linzi ? Its an official term meaning to conduct checks for hazards (like devices), to remove physical threat first. For the avoidance of doubt, here is the link in the first shot. In the second, an example of how it was used in relation to Scarva. Would you two check things before posting? Aside from the potential legal risks, it does frig all to bring down recent febrility.

Thousands of people are alive today, living better lives because of the sacrifices made by the police and others in the security services. The defeat of IRA gangs and their loyalist counterparts through the rule of law was key to that. I was entirely in favour of the OO taking the moral high ground by declining the opportunity the judgment had given them. I wish they had. But that failure of judgment does not excuse the mob rule of those led by extreme republicanism, including former IRA members marshalling people they had encouraged to join an illegal protest. The tensions exposed just how toxic the underlying fault lines remain. Too few political commentators and politicians used their voices to calm and defuse the situation. There were better options available, but they were not taken. We have missed the leadership of John Hume and Seamus Mallon, who understood the importance of dialogue, restraint and respect. Now that the inevitable decision has been made, the other side of the coin must be the application of the law, holding those who blatantly broke it, and particularly those who encouraged others to do so, to account. Otherwise, we risk setting a precedent that none of us should want others to follow: that the rule of law can be overturned by sheer numbers, intimidation and threats.
