Drew McIntyre sat down with @ChrisVanVliet on Insight today and got real about the kid who debuted on SmackDown in October 2007. CVV pointed out the timing 19 years to the day since that first match against Brett Major. Drew’s response was blunt.. “Confident young man. I mean, I really was. I just assumed I’d come over and just take over the world. And I’d probably be annoyed to myself now that I’m not 20-time world champion. I’m just four-time champion with the accolades.” He genuinely believed it would take about a year to win a world title. No major setbacks just a straight shot to the top “John Cena style.” He later told a story about asking Kane on an international tour early in his career whether the last 20-plus years had flown by the same way those first couple years had for him. Kane didn’t even look up from his book. Just said “yep” and kept reading. That moment stuck with him.
