WE DEMAND IMMEDIATE ANSWERS: WHO GAVE THE ORDER?
We refuse to let this instance of police excess be swept under the rug or masked behind generic departmental apologies. We demand full transparency and accountability from @SAPoliceService leadership, the provincial commissioner, and the Ministry of Police:
* WHO made the specific operational command for police to launch an aggressive response against peaceful, seated protesters?
* WHO authorized officers to pursue, corner, and shoot at young people fleeing down campus grounds?
* WHO sanctioned the physical abuse and dragging of individuals who had openly surrendered on the floor?

THIS IS SIPHO “BRICKZ” NDLOVU.
He was a well-known South African musician.
In 2017, the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court convicted him of raping a teenage relative and sentenced him to 15 years’ imprisonment.
This was someone the victim knew and who occupied a position of trust within the family.
The fact that an offender is famous, respected or familiar does not make that person safe.
Sexual violence is not always committed by strangers. Sometimes it is committed by people who already have access to their victims.
Parents and families should be able to establish whether a person has a previous conviction for a serious sexual offence.
A public reputation cannot erase a court conviction.

UPDATE ON THE MURDER OF BONOLO AND BOTHLHALE MAKENA: SUSPECT IN POLICE CUSTODY
Not In My Name International (NIMNI) welcomes the apprehension of a suspect in connection with the murder of twin boys, Bonolo and Bothlale Makena, in Mamelodi.
NIMNI leadership this evening visited the Mamelodi Police Station and have it on good authority that a suspect is now in police custody. We have further been informed that the investigation has been transferred to district level, given the serious and high-profile nature of the case.
This development marks an important step in the pursuit of justice. For a mother robbed of both her children, however, the pain remains immeasurable. We call for a thorough investigation and a case built on credible evidence, so that those responsible are held accountable.
We urge the public to refrain from spreading unverified information and to allow the investigation to proceed. NIMNI will continue to support the family and closely follow developments.
Bonolo and Bothlale’s lives mattered. Their family deserves answers, and their memory demands justice.

BREAKING:
The 36-year-old alleged pastor who was wanted in connection with the murder of a four-month-old baby and the alleged rape of her 43-year-old mother has been arrested.
The suspect was arrested this afternoon, 10 October 2026, at Diepsloot following an intensive investigation involving detectives and Crime Intelligence. He was found hiding in a backroom in Diepsloot informal settlement, with injuries.
The arrest brings the total number of suspects arrested in connection with the incident to three, including the suspect’s two wives, who appeared before the Atteridgeville Magistrates' Court on 09 October 2026.
The suspect is expected to appear before court on Monday, 12 October 2026.
The police have launched a manhunt for a man following the alleged rape of a 43-year-old mother and the murder of her four-month-old baby, whose body was discovered buried in a shallow grave on Wednesday, 07 October 2026.
Preliminary information indicates that the woman had gone to hennops river near R511 road accompanied by her pastor and his wife for a ritual. Upon arrival, the pastor’s wife reportedly remained behind with the baby while the pastor and the woman proceeded towards the river. It is alleged that the woman was subsequently raped and tied up.
The victim managed to free herself and sought assistance at a nearby construction site. A private security company was activated and the police were alerted.
A multidisciplinary team comprising Crime Scene Management, Search and Rescue, General Detectives, Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) detectives, as well as drone operators, was immediately deployed to search for the missing infant and locate the pastor and his wife.
The 24-year-old wife of the pastor was subsequently located and questioned by police. She led investigators to a shallow grave where the baby’s body was found.
Police have opened a case of kidnapping, rape and murder.
The investigation is underway, while the manhunt for the pastor continues.
DEMAND FOR THE IMMEDIATE OVERHAUL OF THE SOUTH AFRICAN POLICE SERVICE @SAPoliceService AND MANDATORY MENTAL HEALTH MONITORING
[RE]: OFF-DUTY POLICE OFFICER ALLEGEDLY SHOOTS AND KILLS PARTNER AT HAMMARSDALE COURT
NOTINMYNAME condemns in the strongest possible terms the systemic decay, unbridled violence, and total loss of integrity within the South African Police Service (SAPS).
Those entrusted with protecting the public have become a source of fear, trauma, and bloodshed.
The past two weeks alone have exposed a crisis that can no longer be met with bureaucratic empty promises or minor internal reviews:
* Sexual Violence within Law Enforcement: The horrific recording of 116 rape cases involving police officers demonstrates a deep-seated culture of gender-based violence inside the institution assigned to fight it.
* Protest & Police Brutality: Recent excessive force against peaceful demonstrators has left victims with life-altering physical and psychological trauma, violating fundamental constitutional rights.
* Abuse of K9 Units: Reports of animal cruelty involving police service dogs highlight a disturbing disregard for life across all levels of the service.
* Violence at the Seat of Justice: The devastating incident today involving an off-duty officer who shot and killed his partner inside the Hammarsdale Court proves that dangerous, unvetted behavior is breaching even courtrooms.
The current system is broken beyond repair. SAPS cannot self-correct, nor can citizens continue to suffer under an arm of the state that inflicts harm on the very people it exists to safeguard.
NOTINMYNAME demands the following immediate actions:
* Complete Restructuring and Re-Vetting: The immediate dissolution of corrupt frameworks within SAPS and the complete overhaul of all serving personnel through an independent, rigorous re-vetting process.
* Mandatory, Continuous Mental Health & Psychological Monitoring: The immediate implementation of routine psychological evaluations, trauma-informed support, and mandatory mental health check-ins for every officer carrying a service firearm.
* Independent Oversight & Accountability: Unfiltered prosecution of officers implicated in sexual violence, brutality, and abuse through a fully independent body, ensuring no officer remains above the law.
We say NOT IN MY NAME to police brutality, gender-based violence, and systemic negligence. The state must act now to disarm and dismantle a compromised force and rebuild a law enforcement agency rooted in accountability, human rights, and psychological fitness.

13 Students were arrested as a result of the protest against the 2027 Rhodes University Student Fees Protocol.
Fortunately the charges were dismissed upon their court appearance on 05/10/2026.

#NOTINMYNAME DEMANDS @SAPoliceService ACCOUNTABILITY AND IMMEDIATE COVERAGE OF LEGAL FEES FOR 13 UNJUSTLY ARRESTED RHODES UNIVERSITY STUDENTS
#NotInMyName strongly condemns the continuous pattern of heavy-handedness, unlawful detention, and victimisation targeted at students by the South African Police Service (SAPS). The unjust arrest of 13 Rhodes University students in Makhanda during recent peaceful fee protests represents a glaring abuse of state power and an ongoing intimidation tactic meant to criminalize student voices and constitutional rights.
It is unconscionable that young individuals, pursuing their constitutional right to protest and demand accessible education, are subjected to tear gas, rubber bullets, wrongful arrest, and psychological trauma. The subsequent financial burden of legal expenses resulting from these arrests should not fall on the shoulders of students or the broader community. The responsibility for the financial fallout of these reckless actions belongs solely to the SAPS.
We demand that the South African Police Service immediately assume full liability and pay all incurred legal fees amounting to R90,000 for the defense of these 13 falsely detained students.
Students and their representative bodies, such as the Rhodes University Student Representative Council (SRC), should not be forced to launch fundraising campaigns or rely on public donations to settle legal costs stemming from state-sponsored harassment.
The SAPS must be held accountable for the administrative and financial damages caused by unlawful detentions. Taxpayers and students must not foot the bill for police overreach.
We call on the Minister of Police and the National Police Commissioner to intervene without delay, ensure the immediate reimbursement and settlement of these legal bills, and issue a public apology to the affected students.
#NotInMyName remains unwavering in its stance against state brutality and will continue to mobilize until full justice, financial restitution, and accountability are realized for the 13 students.
