Thanks to my mom-in-law Rio & her armcandy Doug for painting me a little sign for our @valancourtbooks bookcase!
Our good pals @naturalvelvet have a new album out today - “Perma Blues” with a beautiful painting by vocalist Corynne Osterman on the front. They’re having a release show for it tonight with Spring Silver, Violet Evergreen & Ragdollz at Metro. Bundle up & hit it!

Kind words are always appreciated for delicate book & record sellers. The last customer yesterday was a youngish guy, seemed to be having a moment, then said “I’ve been coming here since I was a teenager - (& I am amazed how you remain ever youthful, you still look 30! - sorry
that was AI) - and I just now saw my book facing out in your music section. Seeing my book facing out at Normals is better than a review in the New York Times.” Thank you author John Lingan. Check out his book #HomePlace about a mountain honky tonk.
Our #ArtSection has blown back up, just in time for the holidays! #AYearofPicasso #AlbertoBurri #GabrieleMunter #Minimalism #AlmaThomas #GerhardRichter ##SusanRothenberg #Vuillard #EdRuscha #SuzanFrecon #Rogiervanderweyden #BaltimoreBookstore
Hate to be shilling already for the holidays, but this tasty item is fun & time sensitive!! The good people at #RecordTimeMagazine have put together a calendar comprised of all homemade cover art for classic LPs! It’s a treat & we may need treats in the coming year.
Even Louis DeJoy & his minions fear @mollycolleenoconnell !! The box of her juicy new art books got here from Chicago in 2 business days!!! And she called me a g.o.a.t.! No one has ever called me that, even in jest!
And gaze upon her handwriting & work, surely a human delirious with creation. Who’s Afraid Of A Florida Woman - Life Magazine’s “Best Book Title 2024” - will be in a Normals near you tomorrow! #BaltimoreBookstore
Doom up in here! But since it’s from our least functional distributor - with the most rules & least communication - we got the promo standee weeks ago but records have not yet arrived. Records will be here decorating the promo tomorrow at 12:30. I swear by the mask of MF!
