It's even more important in this extreme heat to check the backseat to make sure your kids and pets are out of the vehicle. Make sure your vehicle is locked so that kids can't accidentally get into the vehicle to play and not get out. #LookBeforeYouLock

#DYK falling & flying debris causes most injuries & deaths during a tornado?
🌪️ Go to a basement, hallway or closet on the lowest level of your home.
❌ Stay away from windows, doors & outside walls.
✅ Protect your head with your arms & put furniture or a mattress around you.
ALT Where to shelter during a tornado. Home - Identify a basement, storm cellar or interior room on the lowest floor with no windows to gather. High Rise - Pick a hallway in the center of the building if you can't quickly get to the lowest floor. Mobile Home - Choose a nearby sturdy building to gather. If your mobile home park has a designated shelter, make it your safe place.

As a father, it's shocking to hear that nearly half of all car seats are estimated to be improperly installed. My @NHTSAgov colleague and safety expert Laura Dunn gave @SenDuckworth and me a helpful tutorial today.

Snow continues today, with the highest amounts generally south of Interstate 72 and ice in far southern counties. Blowing and drifting snow will be a problem all over the state.

That's a whole lot of magenta ahead of the morning commute. Again, staying home is the safest option if it is available to you.
Our crews have been out working hard since late last night, but the snow is too heavy in some areas to be able to keep up.
