The last thing I’ll say about the martyrdom narrative is this: if you’re worried this will cause islamists to rise up and become militant in the west, you’re right.
If you’re scared of that confrontation, you’re wrong.
Our civilization has basic rules. Rules like don’t kill your neighbor. Especially your brothers and sisters in arms.
