After the Round of 32, UEFA is now the best overall performing confederation at the World Cup 2026.
No Asian teams left (from 9) in the Round of 16
Africa has been top of the list from round 1. Only 1 team from CAF eliminated in the group stage. 7 of 9 Asian teams are out. According to the FIFA World Ranking points Asia has massively under performed.
The Group stage is over. According to FIFA world cup ranking ELO points, we can determine who has performed best and worst compared to expectations. Mexico with 3 wins, has so far performed the best.
After the 2. round of the WC group stage, its still Africa (CAF) who has gained the most FIFA World Ranking points. North America (CONCACAF) gained the most in this round alone (+51.95).
The points are an indicator of how well teams perform compared to expectations (rankings)
According to the FIFA World Ranking, the most succesful confederation in the 1 round of the WC2026 is CAF (Africa) way ahead of everyone else. North and South America the biggest losers of points so far.
