State level? Ken Paxton National level? Donald Trump w/o any of the sane people from his first term.
The fact that someone like Talarico even has a remote chance in Texas is horrifying. Where did we go wrong?

Cannot be understated that the natural slavery of a Republican congress to Trump has fucked up whatever grand plans they have that weren’t “burn it all down”. Oops.

I do like how you get steam points on taxes. Nice little thing Valve does that they didn’t have to.

“Looks like they’re going for a brake check” “Yes, their brakes need to be checked”
How did that brake check work out for ya?

if gas prices go down by 5 cents and that causes the Republicans to improve by that many points nationwide I’m gonna go insane. An asylum run by the patients is what we are

Somewhere you can make the argument that religious freedom and personal freedom will naturally have contradictions and conflict, but with this country separating church and state it’s pretty clear personal freedoms would and should come first.
Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito says in a new book that he believes the court's landmark decision extending marriage rights to same-sex couples was "perhaps the decisive point in our nation's turn against religious liberty." Read more: abcnews.link/M860KYr

Even so, saying that allowing gay people to marry of their own volition is a violation of religious freedom sounds like you want to use the state to enforce religious principles on others. These conservatives man, I don’t know what to think about them that could be “good”

In the past decade (since 2016) the only two truly new subfranchises in COD are Infinite Warfare and Vanguard. All the others have been the rebooted Modern Warfare tetralogy or Black ops 4-7. And Vanguard came out in 2021, Infinite Warfare was in 2016.

IW and Vanguard were not well received. WWII did ok but it isn’t considered a standout among its peers. seems like Activision is paralyzed and scared to try something new because that carries a huge risk that has historically not paid off most of the time.
2
Oh wait, forgot, WWII was 2017. So that’s 3/10 not 2/10. Still, that probably contributes to why this franchise feels so stale: we’ve been dominated by a reboot franchise and a franchise that started in 2010 (technically 2008) for the better part of a decade.

So many people are convinced that the Democratic Primary is going to be a spectacle. They're not considering how much of a car crash the Republican Primary is likely to be.
Politico: Ted Cruz blasts JD Vance as “insecure,” says he’s focused on helping GOP win midterms Sen. Ted Cruz fired back at JD Vance for suggesting he’s already focused on a 2028 presidential bid, calling the vice president “insecure” “In my experience, people engage in political bomb-throwing when they’re feeling insecure,” Cruz said in a phone interview Saturday. “So he’s welcome to make whatever comments he likes. I’m going to keep focusing on the midterms and helping us win on Election Day in the next 30 days.” politico.com/news/2026/10/03…

The right is reclaiming AO3 to bring us back to the days where JKR was still liked on Tumblr, we must fear their power lol, lmao
The entire Malfoid saga, complete with the revelation that multiple RW chuds on this website are actually quite gifted fan fic writers, should give you a glimmer of hope that the arts can be reclaimed from decades of Progressive mediocrity. There is a yearning for something greater. As one of my followers wrote to me in a DM, this is a fantastic sign for the future.

I love when Trump fucks over his most devoted fans. It's so obvious he doesn't give a fuck about them.

Unnecessary cruelty for the convicted and the possibility of killing an innocent person are to me not even the worst aspects of the death penalty It degrades society by turning us all into bloody savages and wastes our collective resources that should go to more legitimate use
why do y'all always use the worst people to argue against the death penalty 😭

Yes, to every bit of this. Trump 2.0 is what Trump 1.0 would have been if the actual adults in his first admin hadn’t had to babysit him. The myth that Trump was ever a good president economically or otherwise was always a lie.
Summary: Trump is a terrible person who has no understanding whatsoever about public policy, government, history, law, the Constitution, foreign relations, or much of anything. He won the 2016 Republican nomination in a fluke with a minority of Republican votes, probably because Kasich wouldn't bow out soon enough. Unexpectedly even to him, he won the 2016 election with the thinnest of margins. He agreed to House Republicans' (Kevin Brady's) already designed tax reform bill, based on long established conservative tax policy. That bill strengthened the economy, particularly the corporate tax cut. The strong economy compensated for Trump's many other policy wrongs. Covid wrecked the economy and showed Trump in an even worse light. In 2020 voters rejected Trump. Biden worsened rather than improved the Covid economy through spending-driven inflation. In 2024 voters returned to Trump because they wanted a return to the pre-Covid economy. But Trump hasn't delivered on the economy because his policies are harmful to the economy. The people who designed the 2017 tax reform are gone, driven out of office or retiring in disgust. What went right during Trump's first term was the doing of others, who understood policy and deterred him from his worst inclinations. No one like that was permitted influence in the second term. Second term Trump is the real Trump, and the second term results are the real Trump results.

Company that turns everyone out in public into a digital document is angry the same is being done to its employees. Not exactly the brightest minds are they?
“I Value My Privacy”: Flock Tells Public to Stop Photographing Its Staff

Very surprising the debates around digital privacy are being restarted in earnest now, after two decades of them being dead and the 4th amendment chipped away. I can only hope some actual protections are put in place and companies like Flock are outlawed.
