On the last Major League pitch Ryan threw, he tore his UCL. He threw one more practice pitch after the trainer came out to see if he could continue, but he couldn’t and left the game. That pitch came in at 98 mph with a torn UCL.

Alexander Zverev’s record against top 10 players in Grand Slams: 4 wins, 13 losses. This loss to Novak Djokovic in the Roland Garros QF was more of the same story from him. He had some opportunities to be aggressive and take control of important rallies in this match, but the longer the match went on, he became more & more passive. He just stood behind the baseline waiting for errors. That’s not something you can do against one of the greatest of all time. Novak proceeded to hit 36 drop shots. He had the ball on a string and never felt pressured, because he knew what Zverev was going to do… stand behind the baseline and pray for an unforced error. If Zverev wants to win a Grand Slam one day, he knows he can’t play like this in the latter stages of Slams against the best players in the world. He’s known that for a long time, but never breaks the cycle. This one’s going to sting for him.
