I know there are big issues going on right now but this is one reality of the #PalmOil industry 😢 Please do what you can to avoid it (which is very difficult, it’s in almost everything) and contact companies demanding they refrain from using it in their products 🙏
Male #orangutan Ahad was found in a #palmoil field with 26 pellets on his body, as well as cuts & lacerations. Ahad received medical care by OFI vets & is on his road to recovery at the care center. Support our mission at orangutan.org/donate #PreventionOfCrueltyToAnimalsMonth

He lacked ‘sexual experience’ so he gets off with rape 😡
🇦🇺 A teenager raped an 18-year-old girl in Canberra and walked out of court a free man
The reason? The judge, Justice Andrew Muller, said he lacked "sexual experience" and had "limited insight into societal norms in Australia" which made him less to blame 🤯
The boy, 16 at the time, had moved from Bhutan just 6 months earlier. He led her away from a house party, pinned her down and kept going while she cried and begged him to stop.
The judge went even so far as to say that the crime deserved prison, then suspended the entire 18-month sentence anyway.
The victim meanwhile, got a life sentence, where she struggled to bathe or brush her teeth for months, and can’t even call her own body her own.
One Nation Senator Malcolm Roberts:
"If rape is acceptable in the country from which the rapist came, then deport everyone from that country."

We’ve created a world where some animals are loved and protected while others are exploited and treated as commodities. Why should species determine who deserves compassion? 🥺
Their lives are not lesser. 💔

Florida has enacted one of the strongest animal protection laws in the nation. Convicted animal abusers are now permanently banned from adopting or purchasing any pets in the state.
Governor Ron DeSantis signed Dexter’s Law in May 2025, and it took effect on January 1, 2026. The legislation closes a dangerous loophole that previously allowed people convicted of animal cruelty to own pets again after serving their sentences.
The law is named after Dexter, a rescue dog who was tragically killed by his adopter — a case that exposed critical weaknesses in the system. To prevent future tragedies, the law also establishes a statewide registry of convicted animal abusers. Shelters, breeders, pet stores, and even members of the public can now check this database before placing an animal with a potential owner.
Offenders remain on the registry for up to ten years, giving organizations a powerful new tool to screen adopters and protect vulnerable animals.

Think about how long it would take you to find one man who'd help you to set a woman and child on fire.
A total of 10 men have been jailed for a combined 130 years after setting fire to a home in a ‘revenge attack’ that severely injured a woman and a teenage girl. Police confirmed that the mother had been struck on the head and set on fire; she suffered 65% burns, a broken pelvis, broken ribs, and a cut to her liver. She spent two months in a coma and was not expected to survive, but she is now walking again and is predicted to need medical treatment for life. The child suffered 15% burns to her arm, requiring skin grafts.
🚨Bilal Ahmed was given 15 months suspended for 18 months.
🚨Naveed Hussain was sentenced to 22 months in prison, suspended for 18 months.
🚨Kashif Ahmed was sentenced to 48 weeks in prison.
🚨Haris Mahmood was given 24 years and nine months.

Good news from the field this World Gorilla Day: our community trackers and monitoring teams have recorded two new mountain gorilla births in Virunga National Park.
Nvunabandi of the Masibo family welcomed a baby boy, bringing the group to 16 members. Kabila of the Nyakamwe family also gave birth to a male, and her family now numbers 18.
That's 15 births in the Mikeno sector since January, a sign that protection is working, thanks to the teams on the ground.
Have a question about our mountain gorilla families? Ask our field team in the comments.

Calling a forest “undeveloped land” is such a strange way to describe it.
Nothing is undeveloped about it. It is an ecosystem doing exactly what it is supposed to do.
