I’m going to give you a 19th/20th Century Turkish word that must be considered by all leaders (#prententious, or not): *adamsendecilik* ‘being messed about in a pointless way by someone in authority to the point at which you need help’ - that’s what’s got to stop at every level.

A 12 year old Muslim girl in Paris was shot today because of her faith.
That is horrifying and unacceptable.
French president Emanuel Macron stated following this attack that it is: "the first time there has been a terrorist act planned to kill our compatriots, our children, based on the colour of their skin or the religion attributed to them".
Really???
Does he not know about Ilan Halimi???
Jonathan Sandler???
Gabriel Sandler??
Aryeh Sandler??
Myriam Monsonégo???
Yoav Hattab???
Yohan Cohen???
Philippe Braham???
François-Michel Saada???
Sarah Halimi???
Mireille Knoll???
Sébastien Selam???
Or does he not consider them French because they are Jewish???!

Dear Christians,
Jews are not Islamists’ only target.
Here are Islamists massacring Christians for being Christian in Jordan.

Nous n’existons tout simplement pas.

"Large numbers of women who’ve never been poor, who’ve never worked the kind of job where they’d be vulnerable to predatory men and who’ve never needed a rape crisis centre have spent the last few years vilifying members of their own sex for fighting to retain their hard-won rights and single-sex spaces, in ways that have shocked and disgusted me. I freely confess that I feel an extra layer of abhorrence for any woman who claims to be a feminist while doing it.”
I wrote a new piece about women’s rights and whether or not I want trans people dead. (Spoiler: I don’t)👇

I’ve seen a lot of abhorrent things on this app, but the immediate dismissal and ridicule by the British Left of a forthcoming government report on antisemitism towards Jewish children is just appalling. I naïvely thought that, when it came to children specifically, the usual suspects would be more empathetic (or at least more cautious), but alas. The abject cruelty is profoundly disturbing.
Ironically, of course, they make the case for Zionism better than any Zionist ever could. Herzl is vindicated time and time and time again.

The poppy is our national symbol of Remembrance - it must never become a divisive campaigning tool.
These so-called ‘Palestine Poppies’ have been called out as insulting by our veterans, and risk confusing the public and diverting vital funds away from supporting our Armed Forces community.
I’ve written to the Royal British Legion to raise my concerns.

This is a sickening and disgusting act committed by a vile individual.
Sir David was respectful, kind and a powerful advocate for free speech and expression. He always debated political differences with dignity.
To disrespect his life and legacy in this way is dreadful.
This is the most crass thing I’ve seen today
If you ever sought out the novels of Sally Rooney in bookshops – when that was still possible – you’d know they sit in the fiction stacks adjacent to the novels of another SR whose books have been withdrawn in dastardly political circumstances. Until last week, “Rooney” and “Rushdie” had little in common beyond being shelfmates; now they have more than just a physical proximity.

This comparison is as offensive as it is stupid. Rushdie had to spend years hiding from Islamists who wanted him murdered just for what he wrote, and bookshops faced violent attack if they stocked it.
Rooney’s publisher has stopped supplying her novels purely and simply because she insists on directing royalties to an illegal organisation.
There is a grotesque irony in invoking a man hunted by Islamists to build sympathy for supporters of a proscribed group that is stuffed full of Islamists

Islamist terrorists tried to murder Salman Rushdie and everyone associated with The Satanic Verses. Who precisely is threatening to murder Sally Rooney and the staff at Faber & Faber? Yvette Cooper?
