15 ways to use PowerPoint more effectively for learning. Very practical tips.
Will blog about it soon, but in the meantime check out table 6 in the study. It’s not behind a paywall either 🔐🤩

HUGELY excited that we can finally reveal this gamechanging resource for KS3 science.
Every week, a different head of science or senior leader calls me asking for help with KS3 resourced.
Springboard Science is the answer.
Read on for why it's just so revolutionary:

Very pleased to be part of this massive pre-registered project on successive relearning/spacing, which includes a very long practice/retention interval (one condition takes nearly a year to complete!). If you endorse, please vote our proposal! @EdScientists , @NickSoderstrom
We've entered the Prolific grant competition! We aim to find successive relearning/spaced retrieval practice schedules that optimise student learning & wellbeing 🧑🏽🎓. Vote for our proposal here bit.ly/3wvEpm8

In response to the ques posed by @NickSoderstrom & @P_A_Kirschner in the images below, I was given zero understanding of the science of learning (retrieval, spacing, interleaving, cognitive load, dual coding, metacognition) during my teacher training and first 15yrs in education.

Our new preprint! psyarxiv.com/n2ctk/. We showed people *underestimate* their intrinsic motivation when they are "just thinking" --- people expected that just thinking would be boring but in fact they were more engaged in the mere thinking activity than they predicted. 1/4

Before you think about curriculum, it’s worth getting to grips with some of the basics outlined by cognitive science. This model reveals how we process, store and retrieve information (and underpins things like retrieval practice and organising schemata).

We examined 6 key claims of mindset theory. The strongest association (r=−.12) was in the opposite direction from the theory's claim. We suggest the foundations of mindset theory are not firm and that bold claims about mindset appear to be overstated. 1/8 journals.sagepub.com/doi/ful…
