We spent 70 years designing programming languages optimized for us. What does the perfect language look like when the programmer is no longer human? Spoiler: agents love the constraints we hate.

Really excited to share Prevent, Contain, Prove - a voluntary framework for the proliferation of formal methods. This was put together by an all star cast of longstanding members of the academic community and I think it’s substantially very useful for connecting SOTA research to policy.

exactly why @NeoHaskell is being built :)
Vibe coding runs into the same wall every abstraction eventually does: generated artifacts are not the same as system meaning. The next layer is explicit semantics…something closer to a new language/compiler rather than just piles of generated code.

me: I need a way to add custom arbitrary endpoints to @NeoHaskell my brain: but why not adding... me: no more abstractions please my brain: AN ABSTRACTION TO CUSTOM ARBITRARY INTERACTIONS

Agents are just amplifiers - if your team has good code structure, good tools around the project, good automated workflows and processes they will be giving great results and be productivity multiplayer. But if your existing way of doing things is mess, they will just annoy you

>meet Rob Pike >he pitches you his new programming language >ask him if it uses Hindley-Milner type system >he doesn't understand >pull out illustrated diagram about dependent types, lambda calculus and Algorithm W >he smiles "it's good type system sir" >boot up go >doesn't even have enums

People in tech create tech. They have control over its direction.

I think it is the first time that I clap when watching a YouTube video, it's a philosophical debate on good vs bad, moral vs immoral, means vs the end. If you like philosophy I recommend this: youtube.com/watch?v=aPOHzsWw…

I've been wanting to kickstart a blog for a while: - self-hosting (this becomes a rabbit hole very quickly + I must distribute on another channel myself) - dev.to - substack - linkedin Any ideas?

hot take: if your library has a Some.Module and Some.Module.Simple, the simple one should be renamed to Some.Module, and the other one should be renamed to Some.Module.Internal. saying that there's an easier alternative in your library is bad marketing for it, thats the baseline

absolutely this
I worked at a small startup. Both CEO and CTO sat at the same desk with me. Yet, I was just quietly doing my tasks. Big mistake. Here’s what I could’ve done differently: 1. Ask them about current revenue streams and major factors impacting them 2. What prevents pursuing other businesses opportunities 3. What are the main struggles for other teams 4. What’s our biggest cost centre and how we can reduce costs 5. What’s the business roadmap for the next year I trusted too much they have a holistic view of the company when I should’ve taken more initiative to drive the company and bring real value.
