Archbishop Anthony Fisher OP has submitted a complaint to the media ombudsman after television station ABC platformed a pro suicide and euthanasia advocate without offering an alternative viewpoint

Oh look! It's a male journo at the ABC having a crack at Sophie Cunningham for saying women and girls need their own sports teams and comps. How surprising!

Every 6th August - one of my favourite feasts - The Transfiguration - I am reminded of the need for fathers to encourage their children.
I've seen how a father's influence impacts athletes and leaders.
This is my Son, my beloved, in whom is all my delight:
listen to him.

For most of my life, nothing was true unless it could be proven.
What if the unknown-unknowns require faith without facts, and trust without full understanding?

THE EASIEST WAY TO WIN IS BY CHEATING.
Before the drugs, before the Tour titles, before the whole machine unravelled — Lance Armstrong stood at a quiet ethical crossroad. That first decision was a key indicator.
KEY INSIGHTS FROM THE ARTICLE:
☰ Cheating works — often enough, and for long enough, that the incentive rewards the behaviour. That's not cynicism, it's observation.
☰ Moral compromise is rarely one dramatic decision. It's a sequence of small ones, each making the next easier.
☰ The bystander is not innocent. To witness dishonesty and say nothing isn't neutrality — it's compliance.
☰ We have the moral arithmetic backwards. We despise the whistleblower and protect the cheat. That has to change.
☰ The antidote isn't a thicker rulebook or more surveillance. It's internal architecture —
HONESTY, HUMILITY and HARD WORK. The H3.
We measure character before competence, because competence can be performed and credentials borrowed. Character shows up when the exit is right there and nobody is looking.
We are not remembered for our success. We are remembered for how we pursued it.
So who were we along the way?

ROSE, THORN, BUD - HOW A FAMILY RITUAL BECAME A POWERFUL HIGH-PERFORMANCE TOOL
──────────────
Every night our family gathers after dinner — before evening prayers — and shares three things: A Rose. A Thorn. A Bud.
Five minutes. Every person across. Nothing left unsaid.
We started using it in leadership teams. Then one-on-ones. Then cross-department alignment sessions.
Same framework. Unbelievable results
☰ ROSE — the past - An achievement. A behaviour worth recognising. An insight the team needs to hear. Not generic praise — specific honesty about what worked and why. Because vague praise creates nothing. Specific honesty creates standards. This is Honesty in practice.
☰ THORN — the present. A difficulty. A mistake. Something unresolved. A challenge the team is carrying right now. Not a complaint. Not blame. A leader willing to be seen clearly — and to invite others to do the same The most powerful signal you can send your team is that naming what is hard is not weakness here. It is the standard. This is Humility in practice.
☰ BUD — the future.
One commitment. One objective. Named publicly. With the team as witness and the next session as the moment of reckoning. Not a wish list. A decision about where your energy goes next — and an invitation to be held accountable for it. This is Hard Work finding its direction.
The Memorare Prayer:
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection,
implored thy help, or sought thine intercession,
was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence,
I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother.
To thee do I come, before thee I stand,
sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not my petitions,
but in thy mercy hear and answer me.
Amen.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7

When winning, isn’t!
“Winning isn’t everything…it’s the only thing!” someone I worked with tried to instill in me.
I resisted every time - I’d seen first hand how that plays out.
It entices so many to follow a one-dimensional life that is hollow.
Sacrificing so much to climb the mountain, only to find oneself alone at the peak. And all the selfies in the world won’t fill the emptiness.
What then is the answer?
THE SUCCESS DELUSION IS REAL.
After a decade of intentional conversations with millionaires, billionaires, champions, and ascetics, one truth keeps surfacing:
No one has extreme amounts of all three — Family, Finance, and Fitness. Two out of three ain’t bad. But never all three.
Balance doesn’t happen by accident. It requires honest self-assessment, a daily cadence…
Success is not a delusion because achievement doesn’t matter. It’s a delusion because achievement alone was never the point.
The real summit is not a place you reach alone.

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
I gave my back to those who struck me, and my cheeks to those who pulled out the beard; I hid not my face from shame and spitting.
From today Catholics commence the commemoration of the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus.

As a Bucks fan, I want to dislike Celtics head coach Joe Mazulla so much, but I really just can't. He literally gives out Catholic apologetics books on the Eucharist to his players, which @gordonhayward says was the key to his conversion. I hate to say it, but Mazulla is the best
NBA All-Star @gordonhayward was *this* close to becoming Catholic.
What finally tipped him over the edge?
It was a Catholic Answers book.

I love the Collect on Ash Wednesday -
Grant, O Lord, that we may begin with holy fasting
this campaign of Christian service,
so that, as we take up battle against spiritual evils,
we may be armed with weapons of self-restraint.
Memento, homo, quia pulvis es, et in pulverem reverteris
Remember, man, that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.
