🚨 Holy shit... LeCun's team just cracked world models wide open.
Everyone's obsessing over the next Claude update.
Meanwhile Yann LeCun quietly dropped a paper that could matter way more long term.
It's called LeWorldModel.
And to understand why it's a big deal, you need to understand the difference between what LLM does and what this does.
LLMs predict the next word. That's it.
They're incredibly good at language. But they don't understand reality.
They can write about a ball bouncing off a wall. They can't predict where it lands.
World models predict what happens next in the physical world. Objects moving, colliding, falling.
That's the foundation for robots that plan, self-driving cars that simulate scenarios, any AI that needs to act in reality instead of just talk about it.
The problem? World models kept collapsing.
The model would cheat by mapping every input to the same output. Like a weather app that predicts "sunny" every single day.
Technically it's predicting. It's just useless. And fixing this required 6+ loss hyperparameters, frozen pre-trained encoders, stop-gradient hacks, exponential moving averages.
A house of cards just to keep the thing from breaking.
LeCun's team (Mila, NYU, Samsung SAIL, Brown) threw all of that out. LeWorldModel uses just 2 loss terms.
A prediction loss and a regularizer called SIGReg that forces representations to stay diverse instead of collapsing into garbage.
6 hyperparameters reduced to 1.
The simplicity IS the breakthrough.
The numbers: 15M parameters. Trains on a single GPU in a few hours. Plans up to 48x faster than foundation-model-based world models.
Uses roughly 200x fewer tokens than alternatives. Competitive across 2D and 3D control tasks.
This isn't a supercomputer experiment. You could run this on your own hardware.
LeCun has been pushing JEPA as the architecture for real AI since 2022.
The criticism was always the same: "sounds nice, doesn't train stably."
LeWorldModel just removed that objection. Small model. Stable training.
No hacks. No frozen encoders. No collapse.
Two AI futures are competing right now.
Path 1: bigger LLMs, more text, more compute.
Path 2: world models that learn physics from raw pixels and plan in real time.
LeWorldModel is the strongest signal yet that Path 2 is real, getting cheaper, and closing in fast.

Candace Owens says she does not believe Elon Musk, Sam Altman, or Peter Thiel are humans and instead calls them hybrids.
She mentions there is something strange about their eyes and says she is not sure they even bleed.
Owens describes a dark, demonic presence and claims they are transhumanists who want to control humanity through AI and godless technology.

My thoughts on a fresh stage in Romania's political crisis:
A short time ago the President of Romania announced his resignation.
Klaus Iohannis springs from the ethnic German minority and managed to become President in a fractured political landscape by projecting an image of dependability and devotion to public service.
In practice he was little different from the swarm of politicians who had gone into politics for private gain and were supremely disinterested in public service or strengthening the anaemic democracy which had emerged after the fall of communism.
He was just cleverer in disguising his intentions. A smart, martial presence enabled this stolid German to appear a fitting symbol for an often confusing-seeming country in the EU and UN corridors of power.
During his first term he only made token gestures to protect the justice system against the predatory attentions of the post-communist Social Democratic Party.
People who now roundly condemn his shabby record elected him for a second term in 2019 after he vowed to halt the plundering left's march on total power.
But what did he do shortly afterwards?
With the help of the intelligence service (easily Europe's largest) he purged reformers from the ranks of his Liberal party, declared war on its natural ally, the Union for the Salvation of Romania and announced a grand reconciliation with the left.
Real competitive politics were suspended in the first half of the 2020s as Iohannis exploited his office for lengthy foreign holidays at vast state expense and grandstanding on the world stage (including an attempt to became head of NATO!) He increasingly relied on the security services for what should have been political business, a sinister throwback to the era of Nicolae Ceausescu.
The alliance with the immensely corrupt and authoritarian Social Democrats meant it was their ethical standards that prevailed.Corruption mushroomed and the justice system's ability to check abuses of power was severely curbed (with the EU a complicit bystander) .
Runaway state inefficiency was shown during the Covid pandemic. Public alienation spilled over into backing for fringe extremists, who beat the nationalist drum but backed Vladimir Putin's designs for Eurasia.
The runaway extremism of their presidential candidate Calin Georgescu was well-known to the sprawling Romanian intelligence world. The powers of President Iohannis place it under his control. But he allowed pro-Russian defence officials and spooks to acquire influence as he claimed to be a friend of 🇺🇦 in its war with Putin.
A low grade status quo, comprised of venal parties, got the shock of its life when Georgescu emerged the winner in the first round of presidential elections. On the eve of round 2 he was disqualified by the Constitutional Court and the elections - postponed, twice - are now due to take place in May.
There is no doubt that online social media manipulation worked strongly in favour of this largely unknown dark horse but the incompetent Romanian authorities were unable to set out categoric evidence or identify the exact role of Russia.Nevertheless, they cancelled a democratic election.
Iohannis became the symbol of the society's contempt for a corrupt ruling order. Supposed to retire on 21 December he agreed to extend his term. But soon his party sponsors realised what a disastrous error it was to prop up a such a reviled figure.
His resignation statement is full of the self-righteousness conveyed in the memoirs of another political leader from the Germanic world, Angela Merkel, who also did her nation great disservice.
These are two sneaky, narcissistic politicians who may yet have managed the feat of wrecking their respective countries unless better-quality leadership prevails.
It is touch-and-go what happens in Romania this spring. The fringe extremists (in a quite different league from West European national conservative parties) will do well. If they team up with the former communist PSD, I don't see another dictatorship, more likely economic meltdown and chronic political chaos.
The taciturn foxy Iohannis isn't the sole architect of this debacle but he made disastrous moves which enabled a shaky democracy to become a deeply sick one.

1) Imbeciles on the left and right both fail to truly understand the Vietnam War. They stubbornly cling to their perceptions that it was a war between two competing ideologies. This totally neglects the actual reason the war began long before the US entered it. Let’s begin⬇️

Something doesn't add up.
In 2020 Biden had 81 Million votes, Trump had 74 Million votes.
In 2024 Harris got 66 Million votes, Trump got 71 million votes.
15 Million Democrats decided to sit this one out?
3 Million MAGA decided to sit this one out?
No fucking way.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Around 15 million votes have not yet been counted.
"So far, (Nov 6th pm) around 137 million ballots have been counted for the 2024 presidential race. Predictions of final turnout are hovering somewhere in the neighborhood 152 million votes."

Bravo!
Today is the day. We picked a side, and we stand by that decision. Under Trump we would be hunted down and put in prison, or camps - or even worse. Humans, no matter who you are always mandate self-preservation as a top priority.
There are many reasons why we stepped into this.
The global shift into far-right wing authoritarianism needs to be stopped. Many countries (and its people) follow the trends of the USA's political leanings. We have many activists in the EU too - and we feel like we would be abandoning our friends and comrades if we stayed idle and said nothing.
While many of us are political anarchists, socialists, libertarians (that hate trump) and follow the hacker's creed of "curiosity" - as also "We exist without skin color, without nationality, without religious bias", we understand that humanity is way too infantile for that vision, hell humans are still afraid of skin color and how people identify... living in an open society based off of humanitarianism would certainly cause massive cerebral hemorrhaging in a significant portion of earth's population.
We choose the future for all of our children, not some dystopian vision of an old narcissistic has-been who has no real dreams of helping humanity, whose only purpose is to subjugate, control, and breed hatred.
All these years we have fought so hard for a better world for everyone. That's why we call out corrupt governments and corporations. That's why we have ALWAYS taken the side of the people, the side of the oppressed and marginalized.
Taking the side of Trump and Elon is taking the side of the very elitists we've been fighting against since we hopped in our boats and sailed the 7 proxies. It's all come to a head now, and for many of us - this election will show the course of where the world is going to head. If Kamala wins, we can continue to do what we deem to be helpful. If Trump wins, we will definitely fight back as much as we can - but we will also most likely end up in chains.
We are not afraid of the weak-minded fools who parrot their ignorance, we are afraid for you - the people, our families, our partners, our children, our world.
So when Kamala wins, don't be shocked if we speak out against the things we don't agree with - because we will - but at least we'll have the freedom to do so without being sent to the gulag.
Yes, we have a contingency of haters, we're ok with that - they have the right to speak out against us, anyone does. The remarks they make are quite funny, because they offer no insight on what visions they have to offer - only hate and vulgarities that point to deeper problems with them psychologically.
We will continue to fight - always.
Respectfully,

I have a confession and a plea to folks who are flirting with voting Jill Stein.
When I was a 20 year old college student in 2000, I voted for Ralph Nader instead of Al Gore. I loved the progressive message Nader offered, and Bush and Gore seemed kinda the same to someone who was paying peripheral attention.
I've regretted that vote for my entire adult life.
Ultimately, George Bush won by a margin of 500+ votes in the state of Florida over Gore. And that was the ballgame. Ralph Nader peeled 97,000+ votes away from Gore. If only 600 of those 90,000 had voted for the major party candidate that more aligned with their values, things would have been very different.
When I was in my senior year of college, 9/11 happened. The country and western world rallied around Bush's resolute response to the traumatizing terror attacks. I was in NY at the time, and it was a terrifying moment for the nation.
But the consequences of Bush being in office at that moment were immense.
Bush's disdain for his dad's nemesis, Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, led him to invent a rationale to invade a country that literally had nothing to do with 9/11. End result? He killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqi people, thousands of American troops, and spent over a trillion dollars of taxpayer money in the process.
Beyond the completely immoral and indefensible Iraq War, Bush was a complete disaster as a president. His "No Child Left Behind" effort turned public schools into standardized testing centers. He tripled down on fossil fuels and ignored climate change. His tax cuts for the rich helped contribute to the 2008 economic downturn that led to the Great Recession.
He was a terrible president.
In an alternate reality, Al Gore would have been president in 2001 when terrorists attacked America. Would he have gone into Iraq? Absolutely not. Would he have ignored global warming? 100% no! Gore was perhaps the preeminent proponent of fighting climate change at that time. Would he have passed massive tax cuts for the wealthy? No way.
This is a sliding doors scenario. What would have happened? We can't be sure. But one thing is for sure: those votes for Ralph Nader (in Florida in particular) were EXCEPTIONALLY consequential for the lives of millions around the world. Gore would have offered a more forward-facing, environmentally conscious & peaceful presidency that wasn't so rooted in grievance and privilege.
My point is:
Either Kamala Harris or Donald Trump will win the election. That is a fact. You might feel the need to submit a "protest vote" as I did in 2000.
Just be ready to wear it when Donald Trump wins, strips away reproductive rights from all Americans, implements an economy-destroying tariff, dismantles the entire federal government, eliminates the Department of Education, prosecutes his perceived enemies, and devolves America into chaos.
There are no perfect choices. But rest assured, there are only two.
Trust me - I've been wearing my vote for a quarter century.

"Incoherent goat rodeo" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Let me tell you why I think Trump and the Republicans are screwed with just 10 days to go. 3 things:
1) Ground game
2) Closing message
3) Momentum
1) Ground game…they don’t have one. Lara Trump nuked all the building the RNC had done. Trump torched all of his money on lawyers. They simply ignored the entire concept thinking rallies and transphobic ads were enough. They aren’t. Politics hasn’t changed so much that people knocking doors, making calls, organizing voter drives, and pews to the polls etc don’t matter. Do you really think these marching bands leading college students to vote happened spontaneously? No! They’ve got Elmo desperately throwing money into a bonfire with paid canvassers that are ripping him off! They aren’t knocking the doors and have no skin in the game. They aren’t true believers. They aren’t convincing anyone. In the last ten days…it’s all about turn out…turn out is a ground game…Trump has zero.
