Another great alumnus of #publicdiplomacy at #uscannenberg - happy 20th birthday to the MPD program.
Check out our interview with MPD alum Ted Richane, a documentary filmmaker whose recent work includes The Endless Frontier, a film examining the history and uncertain future of U.S. federal support for scientific research.

Glad to see that the U.S. will be at @expo_beograd an enduring forum for #PublicDiplomacy.
Just signed the participation agreement for @expo_beograd — the next iteration of the modern World’s Fair, to be held in Belgrade next summer.
The United States and Serbia have entered a new era of bilateral relations, and expo will be a great opportunity to highlight our friendship and commercial ties.
The theme of the expo is “Play for Humanity.” American companies, inventors, athletes and artists obviously excel here — and we look forward to partnering with and showcasing them.
I was keen for commentary on HRH’s gift to POTUS from the author of the best book on diplomatic gifts @PaulBrummell. Here it is…
It follows in the tradition of another masterful #DiplomaticGift from the UK to the USA: the Resolute desk, a gift from Queen Victoria to President Rutherford Hayes in 1880, also finding a place in the Oval Office.

VOA and its audiences deserve better that to be a political football.

Speaking out to @savevoanow — so shocked that this is happening to a vital element of US public diplomacy.

The silencing of VOA is “un-American and outrageous”, says Nicolas Cull, historian, pioneer scholar and educator in the field of public diplomacy. He also warns about the dangers posed by VOA not communicating American ideals of press freedom around the world. #SaveVOA @NickCull
Proud to be part of this excellent podcast on the crisis @VOANews. I do the history bit… Thanks @kirstimelville for the invite…

So glad that the great music scholar Joe Horowitz and #UniversityofMichigan can conduct #culturaldiplomacy in South Africa. So sad that the State Department's version of this work is headed for a 93% budget cut
