🆕 CMS just dropped data on No Surprises Act IDR outcomes for 2025! Providers received almost $15 billion in payouts in 2025, more than TRIPLE what they received in 2024 (per @AnnaWMathews). CMS told the WSJ that "the system is being gamed to get higher prices." CMS is right⬇️

🚨 We’ve just witnessed the biggest supply-side housing victory in 30 years. 🚨 The bipartisan 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act has officially passed, marking a massive win for pro-supply, common-sense housing policy. We're thrilled to see several critical provisions make it into the final package ⬇️⬇️⬇️ 🏡 The Build Now Act will financially reward local governments that allow more housing units to be built, incentivizing new supply in high-cost markets. We congratulate @SenJohnKennedy and @SenWarren on securing this pro-supply language in the final bill. 🏡 The Housing Supply Frameworks Act puts federal resources into helping communities reform zoning codes and land use regulations that block housing production. It will help communities move beyond policies rooted in 1920s-era federal model zoning codes that laid the foundations for the barriers causing the housing crisis. 🏡 Section 102 directs HUD to develop guidelines for single-stair buildings, helping cities re-legalize classical American designs such as brownstones, walk-ups, and small apartment buildings. 🏡The Housing Supply Expansion Act will eliminate the permanent chassis requirement for manufactured homes. This change could reduce their cost by $5,000–$10,000 per home and open up other benefits like increased design flexibility and make it easier to build two-story manufactured homes. 🏡 The Accelerating Home Building Act assists local governments in developing pre-approved housing designs to speed up production, unlock new supply and make construction more straightforward. Thank you to the bipartisan coalition of lawmakers who understand that the only real solution to the housing crisis is to build more homes. Our full statement here: niskanencenter.org/niskanen-…

Thanks to @RepDavidValadao's leadership, parents are one step closer to receiving much-needed support as they welcome a new member into their families. The legislation would provide up to $2,000 to support parents, as many experience a dip in income.
Welcoming a child into your family is one of the most meaningful moments in life, and as a dad, I understand both the joy and responsibility that comes with it. At a time when so many young families are facing higher financial burdens, we should be making it easier—not harder—to raise children and build a future. That's why I was proud to introduce the Supporting Newborn Parents Act, which puts money back into the pockets of hardworking families so parents can focus on raising their newborn instead of worrying about making ends meet. We know that a new bundle of joy 👩🏼‍🍼 also comes with a bundle of new costs 💰. Niskanen is proud to support bipartisan efforts to better help working parents get off to a good start. ⤵️
We applaud the introduction of the Supporting Newborn Parents Act — a bipartisan bill in the House that would give new parents a $2,000 newborn tax credit. This would be a HUGE step forward for families, as @leahlibresco explains 🧵

Proud to support the VICTIM Act. Thank you to @SenJohnKennedy, @SenBooker, @RepDwightEvans, and @RepDonBacon for your leadership.
🚨🚨🚨 Big news: Senators @SenJohnKennedy & @SenBooker and Reps. @RepDwightEvans & @RepDonBacon have just reintroduced the VICTIM Act in the U.S. Congress! This bipartisan legislation will help law enforcement solve more violent crimes, and we're honored to have worked with these sponsors to develop it.

We commend @RepDavidValadao, @RepTomSuozzi, @RepBlakeMoore, and @RepDebDingell for their leadership on legislation that would provide critical support for parents right when they need it most.
One of the most exciting moments for any expecting family is preparing to welcome a new child, but unexpected expenses can quickly add up and leave new parents facing costs far beyond what they planned. That’s why I’m proud to introduce the bipartisan Supporting Newborn Parents Act of 2026, which would provide up to $2,000 per newborn as an advance payment to help families cover immediate costs. This commonsense bill gives working parents greater financial flexibility and peace of mind so they can focus on growing their family instead of worrying about how to make ends meet. Congress can do more to deliver the affordable homes that Americans need. As the ROAD Act moves ahead, the House and Senate should look to combine their best ideas.

Much is uncertain in our world today, but Congress has the opportunity to enact an ambitious housing supply package that will make a substantial dent in our housing shortage. But it needs a few tweaks to be all it can be. Let's walk through a few 🧵 1/

The average American spends half their budget on housing and transportation. Congress can fix it: reward housing growth, connect people to opportunity, and cut infrastructure costs. 🏠🚌

An interstate power line can take over a decade to permit — because approval rests with individual states, sometimes individual counties. Dr. Liza Reed testified before the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee today on what Congress can do: ⚡Establish a narrow and clear federal authority to build interregional transmission ⚡Remove market barriers to advanced technologies like HVDC ⚡Enable competition so private developers can build without state monopoly protections blocking them A grid that grows the economy, provides affordable energy, and keeps American industry competitive. That's what's on the table. Read the full testimony: lnkd.in/evNPD6ki
