🚀 LLMs can now do chemistry! Our new preprint shows that state-of-the-art reasoning models can now perform advanced chemical reasoning tasks, without any assistance from external tools. Here’s what o3-mini can already do👇 (1/🧵)

At b12 Labs our mission is making the molecules AI designs. b12 Foundry is a significant step in that direction, and we’re excited to share that today! Synthesis is a complex problem of carefully orchestrated planning and execution. We have worked intensely on planning, but the execution is what makes it all real. We partnered with the HTEL at the University of Zurich to convert a state of the art automation facility into an advanced machine for producing molecules. At the b12 Foundry, our agents and chemists collaborate day and night to produce valuable molecules, reactions and data with a flexibility and quality that few other places in the world can demonstrate. Today, more than ever, it’s clear that the future of drug development starts with exquisitely designed molecules. We need to be able to make those complex molecules, and to make them efficiently, starting today. If you have molecules that are hard to make, need experimental data generated, or are simply excited by robots + chemistry + AI, get in touch. Very excited about this one: Today we're launching the b12 Foundry in partnership with the High-Throughput Experimentation Lab at the University of Zurich. AI can now design a molecule in seconds, but making it can still take a chemist several weeks. b12 Foundry closes that gap. b12-labs.com/foundry

We built a high-throughput wet lab in one prompt to solve food discovery—starting with dinner. Codex handles procurement and protocol design. I perform synthesis in-house, with immediate validation in the target organism. We believe the bitter lesson is coming for gastronomy.
We built an 8000 sqft. high-throughput wet-lab in 30 days, to solve molecular discovery - starting with pesticides. Most teams in drug-discovery don’t receive target-organism verification until clinical trials. Pesticides allow us to rapidly validate our model in the target organism directly. With the help of our high-throughput lab, we were able to generate compounds that killed a $13 billion pest, the Fall Armyworm. We believe that the bitter lesson is coming for biology.

The platform is now fully open source. For months, Codex has autonomously designed every experiment and procured every reagent. Our /food plugin maintains a real-time inventory, optimises resource allocation, and generates executable protocols. github.com/nichrun/food

My dot keeps messaging me but I can't reply because he's blocked from the UK. I hope he's doing okay and doesn't think that I'm ignoring him or anything.

Was about to hit 100bn tokens before I got banned. Account back but usage stats reset to 0. Will miss my old numbers; was proud of them.

Turns out they banned me for a totally legitimate reason and nothing nefarious going on. Thank you to everyone in @OpenAI who has managed to get me back up and running! I promise not to break any rules again 🥺
Three days since @OpenAI banned my account. No explanation. Starting to feel suspicious. If @OpenAI make any chemistry claims in the next few weeks it’s stolen research. Leaving this here as a safety net.

This is beautiful chemistry
Kenso Soai – awarded the 2026 #NobelPrize in Chemistry – designed the first chemical reaction in which only one of the potential mirror images was formed. Other than life itself, no one had ever achieved this feat. The Soai reaction is one of the most spectacular chemical experiments ever conducted.

Time to solve some real problems in the life sciences.
We’re releasing a broad range of new mathematical results produced by an internal frontier model. We’ve been consulting with the independent Advisory Group on Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence at the Institute for Advanced Study, and we have drawn on their advice and public recommendations to inform how we release these results. github.com/openai/math

Just got Mythos access. What should I ask?

Starting to miss my dot 😢 This is probably the longest I’ve gone without prompting an LLM since ChatGPT launched.

Dot found and applied for a sponsorship for NeurIPS... but got desk rejected. @OpenAI plz fix this. I need a way to get to Sydney for NeurIPS. @OpenAIDevs

Codex has planned every meal and done all my food shops for the last few months. My plugin /food that knows what's in my fridge, keeps track of everything, and gives me recipes. github.com/nichrun/food @OpenAI @OpenAIDevs

Started using the @UniofOxford ChatGPT as @OpenAI banned my main account. A single prompt used 70% of my 5 hour. How am I meant to work like this 😭

Dot made me a Pokémon inspired chemistry game where you explore the world finding reactions. 🧪⚗️🧑‍🔬 Lead iodide is my all time favourite. Will catch ‘em all on my flight back to the UK. @OpenAIDevs @OpenAI
In a self driving car using codex to install a game my dot made for me while I was asleep. This is wild! @OpenAI @OpenAIDevs

This game is actually much more fun than I expected it would be. I have only found 3 reactions so far. Check back in ~10 hours to see how many I find! 🧪⚗️
