More information emerging about the conviction of Del Somerville (jailed for two years for throwing a plastic bottle and telling police officers to 'F**k off' at a protest against the small boats).
The court heard that Somerville had played a relatively minor role at the incident, had tried to pull another protester away when he confronted police, actually lived at the marina rather than travelled there for the purpose of protesting, and that the plastic bottle he threw was 'small' or 'empty'.
It's impossible, in the context of wider sentencing policy in this country, to avoid the conclusion that the sanction handed down to Somerville amounts to two-tier justice.
Great example of the ultimate effect in giving free (taxpayer) money to people with zero conditions
Benefits should bring a requirement for regular blood tests to ensure drug and alcohol free. Each failure returns less and less in benefits

Controversial UK health and social welfare thought:
If you receive taxpayer funded benefits, you should have to submit to a 2 weekly blood test checking for alcohol and drugs (including nicotine). If you have either in your system then benefits are reduced, eventually to nothing
Think of the money and resources we’d save if we had a 3 strike = 25 years mandatory custodial sentence policy
Not to mention the positive effects of society as a whole

This is novel. “Sorry you were murdered in your homes, but national security cannot come before welfare payments”
🚨 BREAKING: Andy Burnham suggests he won't cut benefits to pay for defence spending
"National security cannot come at the expense of social security"

Private school parents pay for the private sector (their own kids and bursary/scholarship kids) and the state sector plus VAT.
State school parents take from the state sector. Bridget Phillipson doesn’t even cover the cost of her own kids.
Perhaps she should pay her fair share.
Every interview or panel like QT centres on a concept of “what do you think of X” and no one on any platform is willing to say “I don’t care” or “taxpayer money shouldn’t be spent on that”
Seeing controversy after controversy, confrontation after confrontation - Government needs to get itself, and taxpayer money, OUT of as much as possible and let society evolve
Wait until people work out that prescribing anti-depressants to young men is a huge factor in a declining birth rate!
SSRI’s kill the sex drive and physically stop a “finish”.
An increasing mental health prescription culture is actually killing the future
Timing!
@wesstreeting and @AndyBurnhamGM are both well known “rejoiners”
Yet, yesterday during a huge march for Unite the Kingdom, with the British people so unhappy with the state of things, they decide to announce their rejoin intentions officially

Far right = "holds national flag"
Sensible centre = "holds any other flag"
Is that it?
This country needs a bad guy. Someone who will deliver a reset!
✅ No benefits whatsoever for non-British
✅ Time limited benefits with tapering off to £0 after a fixed period of time
✅ Devolve business rates to district councils to encourage competition
So the biggest issues in the UK
- Benefit bills
- Taxes and regulation
- Immigration
And there was ZERO in the Kings Speech that will make a difference to any of them. Arguably, it’ll make it worse

Recruiting teachers straight out of University will always risk this situation. We need a career change path for older people, they can’t change careers for an entry level teacher salary

It just goes to show the ideology that is at the heart of this government
Living standards ❌
Cost of living ❌
Reduce taxation ❌
Cheaper energy ❌
Love in with an EU that the country voted to leave ✅✅✅

If parents aren’t paying for their kid’s education, then the tax payer is.
So of course this means state education is now MORE expensive for the tax payer!
But government doesn’t mind because they have forced those ‘rich’ kids back into the state sector.
Social justice! 🙄
🚨 Labour’s private school VAT raid is pushing over 65,000 children out of independent education
1 in 10 pupils.
The Adam Smith Institute says this is 3x worse than the government predicted, with 115 schools already closed.
These kids aren’t disappearing they’re flooding into already oversubscribed state schools. Bigger classes, longer waiting lists, overstretched teachers, and crumbling buildings. Standards will fall for every child.
Taxpayers face an extra £500m+ bill a year, while the policy likely loses money overall.
Ideological vandalism that punishes aspiration.
Britain’s children deserve better.
