🌍 TO THE LEADERS OF EUROPE AND AFRICA: STOP PUNISHING ORDINARY NIGERIANS FOR THE FAILURES OF THEIR GOVERNMENT If European and African countries are tightening immigration laws against Nigerians, restricting visas, or making legal migration increasingly difficult, the world must also ask a fundamental question: Why are so many Nigerians desperate to leave their own country? Nigeria’s electoral system faces serious credibility concerns. Our judicial system must inspire greater public confidence, not perceptions of tribalism, nepotism, and political interference Millions struggle with insecurity, unemployment, poverty and an uncertain future, while those entrusted with leadership often appear disconnected from their suffering Yes, we must acknowledge that some Nigerians engage in fraud and other criminal activities. They must face the law. But millions of innocent citizens should not be collectively punished for the misconduct of a few or the failures of successive governments To the governments of Europe and Africa, including the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Switzerland, Austria, Poland, Greece & more Do not merely tighten your borders against Nigerians. Support democratic accountability, human rights, credible elections, and the right of people to determine their political future peacefully I call on the African Union, the United Nations, and democratic governments worldwide to support a peaceful, transparent process through which Nigerians can freely express their political choices—whether through credible elections, constitutional reforms, or a lawful referendum where constitutionally and legally available. For those advocating self-determination in the Southeast and other regions, their political aspirations deserve serious, peaceful, and democratic consideration Leaders such as Nnamdi Kanu and Simon Ekpa are associated with different strands of separatist advocacy; any political future must be pursued through peaceful means, respect for human rights, and the protection of every community Let the people decide. Let no region be held hostage to a system it no longer trusts Let democracy be more than a slogan The ultimate goal should be a society where Nigerians can live with dignity, build prosperous communities, and choose their future without being forced to risk everything in search of a European visa.
