The brain is complex & no 2 are alike… Paradoxically, patterns emerge when comparing 1000s Yet doing so forces exclusion At the heart of omission: avoidance, ignorance, bias, presumption, pain, loneliness Here, #neurodiverse perspectives are amplified, heard, shared, supported

My son doesn’t understand the concept of time at all. All he understands is, waking up and going to bed. Time means nothing to him, absolutely nothing. This is one of the many reasons he doesn’t like waiting on anyone or anything. It’s his schedule or no schedule. #Autism

As you may have seen, I'm going to present in this symposium about the usefulness of the concept of attention. Do you mind if I flush-out some of my argument? I want to make sure that it makes sense and easy to follow, so feel free to poke holes. Here goes:
Happy to be part of symposium, "Attention: accept, reject, or major revisions?" @VSSMtg organized by @AlonZivony along with @RuthRosenholtz @GWUAttentionCo1 and Britt Anderson. I'll go for accept, reject & major revisions (yes all three).

I have trouble understanding and identifying my own emotions. Alexithymia is common amongst autistic people. I will often display an emotion that I see others doing in order to “pass”. image: @21andsensory linktr.ee/21andsensory #ActuallyAutistic #Alexithymia #AuDHD

My autistic ass needs you to be specific! Was just paying for take out and the person asked "would you like a receipt?" Me: "Sure, why not" Them: "OK it will be a few minutes" Me: "Oh, well don't worry about it then 🙂" Them: "🤔 The pizza isn't ready yet, just another few minutes please" Me: "😮 Oh THE PIZZA will take a few minutes. I thought you meant THE RECEIPT 😂" Them: "No sir, the receipt is quick" 🤣

The academic in me is giddy. The ND in me is (at least a tad more) validated. Keep doing what you do @KristenBott !!

Just because people with ADHD get stuck in decision paralysis doesn't mean that they don't also struggle with impulsivity. These are two different systems that can each go awry independently in the same person at the same time. And many ADHD'ers struggle with both

And AuDHD folx are consistently told they’re overthinking things…. And I wonder what that even means.

When they say "autistic people don't pretend play" yet you get so absorbed into an RPG video game that you forget what reality is

What are things that happen with untreated/unsupported ADHD? I hear there are lots of struggles, some that overlap with mental illnesses. I'm trying to learn more about the long-term implications of my own ADHD, treated only briefly (& unsuccessfully) w/ Ritalin in my teens.

For many ADHD brains, our sense of time is fuzzy, which makes time management...challenging. How do you experience time? Any favorite strategies you use to make time "real?" We may use some of your ideas in a book... my writing buddy @Real_Theresa will message you.
