Turns out theocracies are generally a bad idea. Who would have thought,

Proving daily that it was absolutely the right thing to strike this lady off the medical register. It shouldn’t be controversial to say that someone with views as extreme as this shouldn’t have a role in healthcare, looking after vulnerable patients.

Love the escapism of the new Silent Hill game, playing a character who is a healthcare worker carrying a bleep, getting random jobs for patients you’ve never met. In proper realism you get repeat bleeps to attend patients you are already walking to find.

The game sadly doesn’t quite capture the post-apocalyptic vibe of the NHS though.

So absolutely nobody should have any sympathy with Milo Yiannopoulos. Absolutely dreadful human being that has essentially spent his career promoting the suffering of others, including his own community. Dreadful human being.

I hope a lot of people in the media classes reflect on the fact that they have pretty directly resulted in driving an individual to suicide.

Genuine question to any immunology types in UK? Why the resistance for immunology clinics taking referrals for people that have acquired diagnoses of MCAS? I appreciate the controversy in some patients, but having absolutely no services to help these people is pretty shoddy.

Always impresses me how such clever people are capable of coming out with such stupid statements.
Demis Hassabis expects all human diseases to be cured in 20 years. The Nobel-winning DeepMind founder has stepped down as CEO to become chairman and Alphabet’s chief scientist. He is freeing up time to focus on AGI and, above all, Isomorphic Labs’ mission to reinvent drug discovery and eliminate disease. Hassabis has long said AI can cut the usual decade and billions required to design a drug down to months or weeks. With AlphaFold already solved, the same approach is now aimed at targeted treatments. He believes AGI is close and wants space to shape what comes next rather than run day-to-day operations. One of AI’s most influential figures is now betting fully on a disease-free future.

The coverage of Jason Arday is frankly ridiculous at this point. How is this back to back front page news across media outlets?

Jeez, 10 years ago was starting as a bright eyed F1. How time flies! Good luck to all the new starters today, you’ll be fine. Don’t be scared to ask for help. It’s actually a pretty great job all considered.

I love the pearl clutching about the proposed new property tax. Saying people will never vote Labour again…as if the small minority that would be worse off under the proposal would ever have voted Labour anyway 😂 Stamp duty is ridiculous and needs to go.

The recommendation to perform serum SPEP with immunofixation in every case of distal symmetric polyneuropathy has caused unnecessary harm to patients. This advice has been repeated so often that many regard it as an absolute truth. However, Dr. Go and colleagues from @MayoClinic Hematology demonstrate the very low clinical utility of monoclonal gammopathy testing in patients with peripheral neuropathy. link.springer.com/article/10…

I swear to god they make tax in this country such a nightmare. I must physically call the tax office three times a year and they have still wildly and under taxed me over the past few years. I would get an accountant but alas all my money is with HMRC.

Classic morning for TFL. Half the trains cancelled due to too much water, and the other half disrupted for too much sun.
