14/N B/C there are now tens of thousands of these low-cost mobile EEG systems out there amongst the general public, in dozens of countries, this kind of research has now become possible. So we’re giving it a stab.Join us on this journey and let’s see what we can do together! 😎🧠

13/N ...There has been great research using these systems from folks like @krigolsonlab, some of which have outside-the-lab. But the combo of outside-the-lab AND de-centralized is (we think) a new and v exciting way to do cognitive neuroscience and BCI research.

12/N B. This new type of research is made possible by the increasingly widespread availability of low cost, mobile EEG systems like @OpenBCI, @ChooseMuse, @neurosity, @gtec_BCI, #FreeEEG32, and others....

11/N A. NTCSP1 has a ‘de-centralized’ data collection model. That is, we (researchers) aren't present during data collection. This approach has been used in psych expts for a while with platforms like #MTurk and #Pavlovia for *behav* data, but never yet with *neuro* data like EEG

10/N Final comments - two things I want to highlight here:

9/N …For YOU - three things. 1 - contributing to the progress of science 💪🤓. 2 - as part of the process you will learn how to run your own at-home cog neuro experiments🧠💻. 3 - everyone taking part will be entered into a prize draw for some awesome @OpenBCI #Neurotech gear⚙️

8/N So - why do this? Well, for US, we are interested in developing new ways to do neuroscience research outside of the traditional institutional lab, leveraging new low-cost technologies and the power of enthusiast communities ( i.e. you good people). More on this below.
