I am very excited to announce that solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u just took its first step toward upgrading the Bitcoin network 🧵 Today, the solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Army forked Bitcoin Core's code repository and established its own open source project called Bitcoin solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Mode. Bitcoin solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Mode is a new Bitcoin client designed for maximum freedom. Bitcoin developers are now able to work together on GitHub and make code contributions to Bitcoin solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Mode. Over the coming weeks, the first version of solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Mode will be implemented, which involves making the following changes: 1. The maximum standard transaction size will be increased from 400,000 WU to 3,900,000 WU. This will give everyone equal access to do "four meggers" while leaving a generous 100,000 WU of space for the coinbase transaction and block overhead. 2. The global dust limit will be lowered from 294-546 sats (depending on output type) to 1 sat. Ordinals inscriptions and Runes UTXOs are currently forced to carry hundreds of unnecessary sats to appease Bitcoin Core. This will remove the need for "padding" and unlock ~$25M of sats for the Ordinals and Runes ecosystem. 3. Add preferential peering so that solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Mode nodes can "talk" to each other. This feature will largely borrow from Libre Relay's existing implementation of preferential peering. Once these changes have been implemented, the first version of solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Mode will be released and available for everyone to run on their Bitcoin node. It's important to take a step back and understand why solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Mode is so important. For the past two and a half years, the solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Army has been at war with the Bitcoin Knots community. This was not a war the solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Army went looking for, but rather one we were forced to join when the Bitcoin Knots community vowed to purge all Runes and Ordinals from the Bitcoin blockchain. This conflict ultimately reached its conclusion earlier this month when the Bitcoin Knots community forked the Bitcoin network via BIP-110 in an attempt to make Bitcoin less compatible with Runes and Ordinals activity. The fork failed miserably and marked a massive victory for the solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Army. The Bitcoin Knots community has now retreated to its own tiny blockchain which is largely irrelevant to the broader Bitcoin ecosystem. With that fight now in the rearview mirror, the solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Army can turn its attention toward the much bigger goal of permanently making the Bitcoin network more open and friendly to non-monetary use cases. There has never been a better time for us to upgrade the Bitcoin network and push for these changes than now. One of the largest obstacles still standing in the way of non-monetary activity on Bitcoin is Bitcoin Core, whose developers enforce a collection of arbitrarily restrictive "standardness rules" that effectively dictate how people are allowed to use the network. solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Mode will challenge this gatekeeping. By loosening several of these standardness rules, solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Mode will give users more freedom to interact with Bitcoin however they choose, without needing approval from a small group of developers. It's unfortunate that things have reached this point. The ideal outcome would have been to work alongside Bitcoin Core to make Bitcoin more open, programmable, and welcoming to new use cases. But many Core developers have shown little interest in that vision, and several have been openly hostile toward non-monetary activity on Bitcoin. So it is time for the solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Army to take control of its own future and stop asking permission from people who would rather see us fail. Bitcoin solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Mode is built around a very simple philosophical idea: If someone pays for space in a Bitcoin block, they should be able to do whatever they want in that space without needing anyone else's approval. Permissionlessness is one of Bitcoin's core principles and it is worth defending. Bitcoin is stronger, more secure, and more resilient when it supports a thriving economy of non-monetary use cases including DeFi, DEXs, fungible tokens, non-fungible tokens, and entirely new applications that have not yet been invented. solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Mode is being built specifically to give these use cases the freedom, flexibility, and protection they need to grow and to help usher in a new era of Bitcoin innovation and programmability. The most bullish thing that has happened to $DOG in months just occurred and it is not what you expect 🧵 People focus too much on price A coin's price is important but it does not tell the full story In a crypto bull run every coin's price goes up It is not inherently good that a coin's price goes up In fact it can be bad If the price of a coin is going up less on a relative basis than its peers that means it is underperforming the market Similarly in the recent bear market people complained to me "Leonidas the price of $DOG is going down we are failing" I did not see it this way There is no coin that can escape the correction of a crypto bear market Even Bitcoin's price goes down What is much more important is that your coin goes down less on a relative basis For example $DOG's price has been going down for the past year because we were in a crypto bear market but I viewed this as healthy and good Because I was looking at the underlying performance of $DOG relative to other memecoins For example the top dog coin on Solana WIF went down significantly more than $DOG did from their respective ATHs $DOG's price did not fall as much as its peers because it had the $DOG Army showing up and fighting for it every single day Now for the good news During this week's "crypto upswing" $DOG has risen nearly 100 spots on the CoinMarketCap rankings and has just cracked into the top 200 for the first time in a long time This is much more important than $DOG's price going up Every coin's price has gone up in the past week But not every coin has been climbing the CoinMarketCap leaderboard at such a rapid pace Forget price entirely Erase it from your mind What we need to do is get $DOG onto the homepage of CoinMarketCap again That is an achievable goal that is completely independent of if the crypto market decides to be red or green on any given day Let's make $DOG a top 100 cryptocurrency in the world and make so much noise that we can no longer be ignored This is a good short-term goal for us to aspire to Keep showing up Keep fighting Every post, repost, and like is making a difference $DOG go to the CoinMarketCap homepage!!!!

Ordinals and Runes deserve a second chance The first time around we didn't really know what we were doing Nobody had ever done NFTs or memecoins at this scale on Bitcoin L1 before which resulted in a lot of UX issues It's understandable that people were frustrated and left We literally had to trade in spreadsheets for the first several months because there was no marketplace And then once we did build a marketplace half of the time the Ordinal you bought would get sniped in the mempool and never arrived in your wallet Runes suffered from similar UX issues where you were forced to buy them in "lots" instead of the normal "swap" style experience that every modern DeFi ecosystem provided And then a ton of VCs poured money into "Bitcoin L2s" thinking that would solve these problems but none of them did and most turned out to be grifts But I have great news The two years of Ordinals and Runes going down only gave our Bitcoin L1 devs the time they needed to solve all of the problems that I just described People are going to be shocked when they try out the latest experiences that we have built It's nothing like the 2023/2024 Ordinals and Runes tech The Bitcoin ecosystem has likely bottomed and the upside now significantly outweighs the downside I can feel the energy starting to rev up again Is it finally time for Ordinals and Runes to make a comeback?
