Award-winning British P*lestinian artist and activist Lubna Speitan was confronted by a journalist asking whether "J*wish people are no longer welcome in the Green Party." Her answer was powerful and clear: "If you believe that J*wish safety can only be achieved by the slaughter and g*nocide of P*lestinians, then you are racist."

The disrespectful truncating of #MalcolmX (and others) is rampant among those afraid of his actual analysis. #FinancialLiteracy and #BlackCapitalist narratives continue to rebrand Malcolm's anti-imperialism as entrepreneurialism. It's disgusting. youtu.be/g-f87jl1sZc

It is with grave concern that the BAP Africa Team and U.S. Out of Africa Network (USOAN) view the latest maneuvers by the U.S. against Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger, countries that form the anti-imperialist Alliance of Sahel States (AES).

ANNIVERSARY OF THE AES: OFFICIALS WORK TO OPEN UP BORDERS
On 16 September 2026, the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) celebrated its third anniversary by reopening the question of its shared borders. Originally formed as a military pact between Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger, the AES has since evolved into an official confederation and a source of Pan-African hope and inspiration.
In the months and years leading up to the creation of the AES confederation, activists and organisers from the region called for a unified Africa, beginning with Burkina Faso and Mali, the first two countries to have revolutionary coups. When Niger also had a revolutionary coup on 26 July 2023, Pan-Africanists quickly called for a Pan-African federation unifying Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger. Finally, on 6 July 2024, during the first Summit of the Alliance of Sahel States, President Assimi Goïta of Mali stated,
"The foreign ministers, who met for the first time in Bamako on 30 November and 1 December 2023, agreed on diplomatic coordination and submitted for our consideration the recommendation to establish a confederation bringing together the three states, pending the establishment of a federation comprising Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger."
His words provided hope that the three countries would eventually work to tear down their colonial borders and unite.
The Sahel has a rich and deep Pan-African history. Mali's first president, Modibo Keïta, worked to form a federation with Senegal and the Union of African States with Ghana and Guinea. He declared, "If I have to give my life for African unity, I won’t hesitate!”
Will the AES succeed in its Pan-African objective and push Africa towards greater continental unity? Let us know what you think.
