Wait… are we saying that the ‘we want to market to new fans’, the aim towards kids instead of those that would happily spend money on netball and disappearing off the one social media platform that allows accessible engagement didn’t work?! Well. I’ll be damned. 🤦‍♀️🙄🥲
Courtside Comments@NetballCommentsOct 21
An interesting aside in the article is that NSL recorded a loss of £1 million last season.....so there could be the answer for Ms Nelson's departure. Netball isn't big enough to lose that much every year. Changes, probably drastic ones, are needed - NOW !! Eyes on EN....finally!

Serious questions need to be asked of England Netball, who seem so keen on rewarding failure. Am told the candidate pool for netball's top job was small, with one insider saying: “Overseas coaches won’t touch it. No one wants to work for them.” telegraph.co.uk/netball/2026…

England Netball is rewarding failure with uninspiring coach appointment

Handing country’s top job to unproven Anna Stembridge does nothing to enhance credibility of a sport that wants to be taken seriously

Underwhelmed yet again. And sorry for being negative but tell me what other sports would re-hire a sacked HC who consistently underperforms at major tournaments. Planned to go to Sydney next year for WC but I genuinely don't know if I can do that now #Roses

I don’t want to compete, I want to WIN. The constant pushing of this ‘competing’ narrative only serves to underpin EN’s acceptance of mediocrity rather than actual success. Where’s the drive? Where’s the ambition? Where’s the risk taking to try something different?

Appointing the person who has been a not-that-successful interim HC for the past 7 months then re-advertising the job AGAIN after the WC?! What a farce & a colossal waste of everyone’s time. We can only hope there were others who would only take it on with a clean slate post WC

As a Team Bath supporter I remain gutted that we no longer have a NSL side. We continue to sell out home games in the next gen & have the best match stream going. Is NSL2 better without us? No, look at how many current players came came from Bath & imagine our line up now.

Punishing an entire netball region because there are no suitable Arena sized venues in the entire SW isnt how you grow the sport. The Midlands does not need three teams.

Netball at the Commonwealth Games is always our go to sport. Watching it at home and then going to Glasgow to watch the finals weekend live was a very special moment for all in attendance. New Zealand are the Champions and what a story their build up to the tournament is!

Who are those within netball asking the questions? And when will EN start putting the sport first over ego? It will only get harder if we lose funding for another 4th place finish.

Stagnation is real in the Roses right now We shouldn’t be losing by 18 goals to Australia and that’s a lack of skill and mental fortitude which only comes when in an environment that insists on such high standards. Players need to go to the SSN

The whole thing needs looking at such a narrow pathway even from youngsters at pre pdp level so only a certain amount of talent being spotted and developed we need a radical overhaul to future proof England netball

If there isn’t going to be a complete reshuffle from top down, then we need an international coach who isn’t going to be afraid to ruffle some EN feathers and undo the cr@p of the last 8 years
