The mob that follows this band is like a cult. Say anything remotely critical of them (and let’s be honest, they’re shite) and the replies come flooding in. Now Liam Gallagher is getting it from them.
Funny how around 90% of the accounts piling on have Palestine flags or emojis in their bios, too.
Oasis will stand the test of time because people love the music. Their legacy isn’t dependent on the band’s political opinions or whether fans pass some online ideological purity test.
Great music lasts.
Political virtue-signalling on X doesn’t.
🔴Ed Power: Liam Gallagher has accused Fontaines DC of ‘not being good enough’ to open for them despite releasing five dud-free albums while Oasis rack up a fortune as a nostalgia jukebox for Gen-Xers

Bit of an insight into the way SF look at a tragedy. They've built an entire political movement off the back of republican martyrdom, so it's no surprise that they see Jeffrey Donaldson's victims and think, "the abuse of those women is something we can capitalise on". The thing is, had every single SF historic sex abuse scandal led to the same call from their female MLAs, you could step back and respect their consistency and their ability to reflect on how they themselves have handled VAWG, but it hasn't. Instead we have a duplicitous attempt to make political capital out of the horrific abuse of women as we roll towards an election. It flies in the face of ending VAWG. Crass in the extreme.

15 years for Jeffery Donaldson, not long enough after a lifetime of trauma for his victims , throw away the key 🤮🤮

As Jeffrey Donaldson is sentenced to 15 years in prison for child sexual abuse and rape, our thoughts must be firmly with his victims.
They have endured unimaginable trauma, both during their young lives and throughout the years that followed, including the ordeal of the court case. Today, the focus must be on them and the justice they deserve.
But there must also be truth and accountability on every front of the political side of this scandal. From Stormont to Westminster, and within the two political parties in which Donaldson held such prominent positions.
Those questions must be answered, and that day must come.
But today, our thoughts are with his victims.

Who'd have thunk it. A piece advising nationalism/ republicanism to get rid of its most toxic abusive elements, stirred up its most toxic abusive elements. Here it is again.
"What republicans call solidarity, unionism interpreted as a show of strength, seeing thousands called to Armagh to face down 35 Orangemen and their provocative application which sparked it all in the first place.
"The refusal of face-to-face dialogue in recent weeks, instead of the charade of mediation in plush Hillsborough surroundings, was farcical. We are all supposed to be grown-ups here. What an example to future generations."
