My thoughts about the Mets moving forward. I'm not a scout, nor do I care at all about analytics. Sorry, I'm old. Get off my lawn:
1) Pitching. I'd be as happy with adding two solid starters than one high profile, high dollar guy. If they re-sign Clay Holmes, I wouldn't be unhappy, but need one more than that.
2) Infield: Baty, Semien, Vientos, and Mauricio can't all stay. They just can't. Pick the two with the most utility, and move on from the others. Some would like to see the Mets move on from all 4. I don't think that's realistic, but maybe. Personally, if it's 2 of 4, I'd keep Mauricio and Baty.
2a) First base: Sign a power hitting 1B. Can Soto play 1B? I don't know. Sato to Mets? I hope so.
3) Catcher: Alvy has too much potential to move on from, but a whole lot to work on, too. Work on it. Keep Torrens right where he's at.
4) Prospects: If one of them can be this year's Ewing or Benge, break camp with him and see how it goes.

🚨#BREAKING: Outrage is erupting after a 22-year-old who runs into BURNING BUILDINGS as a volunteer firefighter was told he isn't qualified to be a paid firefighter...
...because he was HOMESCHOOLED.
Then the city changed the job posting to cover it up.
His name is Andrew Coates. He's 22 years old, in Nebraska.
Right now, today, he runs into burning buildings as a volunteer firefighter for Cedar Bluffs Fire. He is a state-licensed EMT.
He is doing the job. For free.
All he wanted was to get PAID to do it. In his words: "Make a career out of it would be the goal. To get paid to do what you love."
So he applied to the Fremont Fire Department.
And in April, the city rejected him. Why?
Because his high school diploma says he was homeschooled.
That's it. That's the whole disqualification.
Not his EMT license.
Not his fitness.
Not his record.
Not his experience pulling people out of fires ALREADY!!
...how he was educated.
The job posting he applied to said "graduation from high school."
That's all it said.
He graduated high school.
He has a diploma.
And AFTER they rejected him, the city went back and added the word "accredited" to the job description.
His own fire chief, the man who has watched Andrew work, showed up to defend him:
"I feel the city of Fremont is really missing out here, and in my mind, because of his homeschooling, you guys are discriminating against him."
Over THIRTY homeschool families showed up to stand behind this kid.
And the Civil Service Commission? They said it isn't their job to touch city policy.
Homeschoolers are literally a generation of kids who read ABOVE grade level, who work with their HANDS, who volunteer in their communities, who show up for their neighbors.
And this young man is the proof.
At 22, he's a certified EMT and a volunteer firefighter, while plenty of his peers are on a couch.
When your house is on fire at 3 a.m., I promise you will not ask the man dragging your children out where he went to high school.
You will not ask if his diploma was accredited.
You will thank GOD he came.
Andrew isn't even fighting for himself anymore. His words:
"I think now it's turned into we want to make sure that every homeschooler has an equal opportunity."
That's a better man than the policy that rejected him.
Fremont, you have a licensed EMT and an active firefighter begging to serve your city. And you turned him down over paperwork, then rewrote the paperwork to cover it.
Fix this.
Hire him!!!!!!!

Canada resident breaks down in tears because he life may be over, “I'm about to be a victim of the Canadian healthcare system”
She has cancer. She did everything she was asked to including Chemo, additional tests and seeing the multiple specialists required for surgery. Unfortunately because the way healthcare works in Canada, the process took so long that her tumor has now spread and she’s no longer a candidate for surgery
“ These past five weeks of having to go through the system, waiting for appointments, waiting for diagnostic imaging, waiting for results and reports, my tumor has spread way too far — They let me sit there for two months with no treatment — this is the system that we live in”
What’s crazy is I found this is not uncommon in Canada, and can actually even take much longer than this
On the faster end for high priority major cancer it takes 6–12 weeks from the “we think we can operate” meeting to the OR, plus 4–8 weeks of extra tests beforehand
3- 6 months of sequential waits
Slower provinces can take 6–12 months or more. Quebec’s public lists show thousands waiting for obstetric, gynecologic surgery. The lists show hundreds of people already past 6–12 months mark in waiting
We do not want universal healthcare like this in America
This is what liberals are fighting for

After 11 years as a sports columnist at the Seattle Times, I have decided to resign. It was entirely my choice, and it was not an easy one. The impetus was the Times declining to run a column I wrote from the perspective of two female student athletes who were opposed to competing against biological males. It was one of several pieces of mine that had been spiked, and I no longer felt like I could properly do my job as a columnist. I lay out the situation in greater detail in the link below, but I want to say that I enjoyed my time with the paper, find the talent there to be immense, and have no animosity toward anyone who works there. It was just time for a change.

Liberals say an unborn baby has rights the second an illegal immigrant woman crosses the border pregnant.
But if that same baby is inside a U.S. citizen at 34 weeks, it’s just a “clump of cells” with zero rights and can be aborted on demand.
Explain the logic.

The WNBA is in crisis.
Their regulations say that if you claim to be a woman, you are eligible for the WNBA.
Now NBA players are putting that to the test and saying they are women and want to join the WNBA.
Is the WNBA going to be forced to admit what everybody knows? Men aren't women.

New polling should terrify Republicans:
Jon Ossoff (Georgia) + 13
Roy Cooper (North Carolina) +9
Josh Turek (Iowa) +4
Sherrod Brown (Ohio) +8
James Talarico (TX) +3
Even Greg Abbott is only +1
GOP says we’re a bunch of lunatic socialists. Every one of them is running as a centrist Democrat on addressing the cost of living, healthcare, and cleaning up corruption. If that's the environment, no Republican should feel safe right now.
