'A man meets an old university friend, but finds that things have changed between them.' This started life as a novel scene, but now lives on as a short story. Reads and retweets would be hugely appreciated! wensumlit.co.uk/2026/03/01/t…
conkereditions.co.uk/2026/08… Only too happy to have contributed the Stoke City entry to 'I was Hooked' - a nostalgic, and wholly entertaining, look back at the memories of various fans' first football matches. Great stocking filler for fans 'of a certain age.' 😁⚽
That legendary first fight took Wardley's soul. Imagine thinking you've got to go life and death all over again just a few months later? Wardley never looked like he believed he could reverse that result.
Teams that do well in this league know how to win ugly when they need to. Today's victory was a complete minger, but 3 points is 3 points. Up the Potters!
Another great set of subs from Robins today. Bombino gave Bocat far more protection than he was getting from Devenny, and Bolton's main attacking source was snuffed out. Junior and Lawal both added some steel too just at the right time. Great performance from manager & players.
England's defending has now reached comic levels of ineptitude. They're like one of those naive grassroots teams everyone else thrashes and feels sorry for : unathletic 8-year-olds trying to tiki-taka their way out of defence because someone's dad's been on an FA coaching course
I can't wait to see Junior and Bocat in the same team playing as wing backs. Going to be like having a Championship Cafu and Roberto Carlos combo.
So many players look like they belong in this formation. Maxi, for example, is far better at the centre of a back 3 than in a pair - he can concentrate on winning aerial duels and let the two CBs either side of him play the ball out.
Sorba leaving has allowed us to switch to the 3-4-2-1 system I thought we'd use when Robins arrived. It looks like we've recruited for it over the summer and, for the first time in years, it looks like we've actually got a plan. Even the U21s were using the same system.
Watching Today at the Test, I feel like I've watched the same game three times out of three. Pakistan are shockingly poor.
At what point in the season will we be fit enough to play a second half without having to camp for 45 minutes in our own box?
I honestly can't remember another game when we were on the right side of so many questionable decisions. Usually it's us having dodgy penalties given against us and weird red cards flashed at our players. This must be what it's like supporting one of the big six.
As much as I loved him, Sorba going may be a blessing in disguise...a change in shape, thus freeing up Bocat to play as a proper wing-back made us look a different side. Three centre-backs looked better too. Need to sort out the CAMs and striker now.
I still think Itauma will be a world champion. He'll have learnt a lesson against Hrgovic. It's all very well having the speed, the technique, the power, but the ring IQ can only be developed with experience and time. He needs to learn how to pace himself.
They might not be League One at the moment, but if Bazunu's going to be their keeper...
🚨 Gavin Bazunu is set to leave Southampton and join Bolton Wanderers on a permanent deal.
The goalkeeper is closing in on a move to the League One side.

I guess it could be worse. We could be Leicester and have Russell 'pass sideways in our own box until we lose possession and concede' Martin as our manager.
As much as Robins annoyed me today, we can't be sacking him 2 games into a season. We need to give him until the international break at least. Not that sacking Robins will make a blind bit of difference while King Shitas Jon Walters turns everything he touches into absolute crap.
