Big company trying to own a market badmouths open source alternatives calling them communist and a harm to society. Where have we seen that movie before?

Finding my stream here less and less useful. Going to try to spend more time in the Blue place … so far it seems better, albeit quite a bit smaller.

Do politicians not understand how tariffs work? Saying a tariff on Chinese imports will be paid by China is like saying Safeway pays your sales tax. They don’t. A tariff is just a tax on imports whose incidence is primarily borne by the buyer of the goods.

I love our @dagger_io community - such great interactions on our community calls. Here's one responding to a comment from one of our speakers by @sourishkrout. 🤣

From everything I’m hearing VMworld, in its current incarnation, is a shadow of its former self. While I haven’t been in a few years, for some reason, I’m saddened to hear this. Is it too crazy to dream for a Steve Jobs/Satya Nadela type revival one day?

To everyone asking me what Dagger is all about, @solomonstre provides a great overview of the problem we're trying to solve and his vision for how containerization of pipelines may have as much impact as the containerization of app deployment he brought to the world with @Docker
Great discussion between @solomonstre and @bgracely on the history of containerization and how we've moved from just tackling app deployment to tackling entire pipelines, including CI, on the @cloudcastbasics. Very much worth a listen! thecloudcast.net/2024/06/sol…

I continue to try to find strange and unexpected uses for @chatgpt. Today I was at WholeFoods when the cashier couldn’t find the internal cash register code for celery root. After 3 min of her searching I asked our favorite AI. Lo and behold we had the code.

Running a large OSS foundation is one of the hardest yet most rewarding things I've ever done in my life. Great to get to hang out last night with close friends and former partners in crime @cra and @mindthegabz !

So someone used my gmail address for their Robinhood account. With no way to contact them to ask to update email address, I reset their password to see if they go the hint. Obviously 2FA stops actual account access. But they never actually got the hint. What else would you do?
