Nebraska property owners face an unsustainable tax burden driven by... #1 Skyrocketing property valuations; #2 Unfunded mandates with "unitended" consequences; and #3 Local elected officials who WASTE YOUR money through incompetence, ineffectiveness, malfeasance/fraud, or PURPOSEFUL agenda driven defiance. FULL STOP. Ignoring these facts and putting any legislative effort into law making that does NOT include Property Taxation Reform or Reset is a dereliction of duty as a law-making representative of the people. It's time for direct, permanent property tax REFORM across our state. ONE initiative amends Nebraska Revised Statute § 77-201 to cut the taxable valuation rate of all real property by 50%—lowering the baseline valuation for residential and commercial real estate down to 50% of actual market value, and agricultural/horticultural land down to 37.5%. 👇Use the CALCULATOR to see the results in the Substack posted below This one state statute, and ONLY this statute, delivers THE ONLY immediate, substantial tax relief across all 93 Nebraska counties without introducing new state sales or income taxes, all while preserving local control. State senators could DO THIS in 3 to 4 months if they just had the courage and the WILL—instead of wasting time and hiding behind endless committees that produce absolutely nothing. The absolute arrogance of pretending these are "unattainable solutions" is insulting. The truth is, they operate through a "Government First, People Never" lens. To them, YOUR paycheck exists for one reason: to feed and fund government bloat with taxpayer dollars. YOUR property value is there to be used as collateral for ALL SERVICE RENDERED or subjectively applied by local property taxing authorities. The vision to look at actual tax relief and ask what happens when everyday Nebraskans actually keep more of their hard-earned money is seemingly unfathomable. We are done waiting on politicians who refuse to act. It's time to force real, permanent change. Read the full details and KNOW that the Nebraska Tax Plan exists. ericunderwood2.substack.com/…

We already know that Reid Hoffman is in those files. Will you return every dollar that he and his SuperPacs have put towards your campaign? What do you say to innocent people and victims that would be scandalized by false accusations released in those files?

We’d be substantially better off as a society if we just had a movement to abolish the socialism for the rich.

Don't count NE-2 out just yet.
For NE2, indies really make or break the election, especially in midterm elections. Here is indie data to date and some modeling. Based on this, Harding still has a solid shot and should not be counted out.

We are conditioned to accept things like "official", "certified", and “accredited” as badges of competency assurance. The reality is that these labels are the result of bare minimums of acceptance in government programs. Never forget that badges are made from cheap tin.
🚨#BREAKING: Outrage is erupting after a 22-year-old who runs into BURNING BUILDINGS as a volunteer firefighter was told he isn't qualified to be a paid firefighter... ...because he was HOMESCHOOLED. Then the city changed the job posting to cover it up. His name is Andrew Coates. He's 22 years old, in Nebraska. Right now, today, he runs into burning buildings as a volunteer firefighter for Cedar Bluffs Fire. He is a state-licensed EMT. He is doing the job. For free. All he wanted was to get PAID to do it. In his words: "Make a career out of it would be the goal. To get paid to do what you love." So he applied to the Fremont Fire Department. And in April, the city rejected him. Why? Because his high school diploma says he was homeschooled. That's it. That's the whole disqualification. Not his EMT license. Not his fitness. Not his record. Not his experience pulling people out of fires ALREADY!! ...how he was educated. The job posting he applied to said "graduation from high school." That's all it said. He graduated high school. He has a diploma. And AFTER they rejected him, the city went back and added the word "accredited" to the job description. His own fire chief, the man who has watched Andrew work, showed up to defend him: "I feel the city of Fremont is really missing out here, and in my mind, because of his homeschooling, you guys are discriminating against him." Over THIRTY homeschool families showed up to stand behind this kid. And the Civil Service Commission? They said it isn't their job to touch city policy. Homeschoolers are literally a generation of kids who read ABOVE grade level, who work with their HANDS, who volunteer in their communities, who show up for their neighbors. And this young man is the proof. At 22, he's a certified EMT and a volunteer firefighter, while plenty of his peers are on a couch. When your house is on fire at 3 a.m., I promise you will not ask the man dragging your children out where he went to high school. You will not ask if his diploma was accredited. You will thank GOD he came. Andrew isn't even fighting for himself anymore. His words: "I think now it's turned into we want to make sure that every homeschooler has an equal opportunity." That's a better man than the policy that rejected him. Fremont, you have a licensed EMT and an active firefighter begging to serve your city. And you turned him down over paperwork, then rewrote the paperwork to cover it. Fix this. Hire him!!!!!!!

My take on Massie’s impeachment of Hegseth is simple. We are 7 months into a war that has never been approved by Congress. Trump and Hegseth had legal authority to conduct military operations until May without congressional approval. I do not care for political party bias BS. I wouldn’t want a democrat administration illegally waging war without congressional authorization, and I don’t want a republican administration doing it either.

When are we going to start having some uncomfortable, but serious conversations about this? I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the property tax and state budget crisis probably aren’t getting better without major structural changes… and consolidation.
