1/ Republican Sens. Pete Ricketts and Roger Marshall are seeking reelection while promising relief for farmers squeezed by fertilizer prices. But both have accepted money from fertilizer-industry PACs. Both have repeatedly opposed efforts to end U.S. military operations against Iran, even as the war disrupted fertilizer shipments through the Strait of Hormuz and drove up farmers’ costs. Their donors include PACs affiliated with companies under federal scrutiny. In March, Bloomberg reported that the Justice Department was investigating whether fertilizer producers, including Koch, Nutrien and Mosaic, colluded to raise prices. Ricketts has even pointed farmers to that investigation while accepting contributions from a company named in it. 🧵
