The evidence base for cure violence approaches isn't great! The @NYCComptroller report estimates effects using raw shooting counts despite large differences in baseline violence between treated and untreated precincts( mistaking the larger absolute declines for program effects).

Just how much of a colossal dumbass does one have to be to conclude that the current French civil disorder is a result of 'austerity'?

Who is in charge of education in New York State, anyway? It's a really hard question to answer — and therein lies a huge problem, writes Daniel Weisberg. vitalcitynyc.org/make-the-go…

here's Bruce Blakeman tonight claiming "I never said that I would cut Medicaid in half" -- immediately followed by a clip of him saying on Fox Business in June that "we make sure we cut Medicaid in half"

These NYC apartments are standing empty, not because the owners don't want to rent them, but because rent stabilization laws prohibit them from charging enough to earn back the costs of necessary repairs.
My latest for @WSJFreeEx

crazy moment in the NY governor debate: Hochul says she wishes she pushed even harder on YIMBY policies, meanwhile, Blakeman literally *brags* about how his NIMBY policies have made housing so expensive

Key change: after nearly ten years reporting on policy, I'm going to spend a stint helping write it instead. Grateful for the opportunity to serve the people of New York as Deputy Policy Director in the executive chamber of @GovKathyHochul. Wish me luck.

What helps explain this: Suffolk poll last month showed just a fifth of New Yorkers think Mamdani keeping Tisch undermines his promises — and those who think it does are heavily concentrated among those who disapprove of Mamdani overall

The urban governing model hasn’t changed: Control the narrative and over-rely on nonprofits. No mayor or administration can activate public capacity when we’ve not only lost institutional knowledge to build solutions, but we also can no longer keep pace with public demands. So we may try to give the impression that we can build public solutions but end up just controlling the narrative and overrelying on nonprofits.
These people are insane, they want the NYPD to let civilians and clash with ICE and let ICE slaughter innocent civilians so their revolution could come faster. They are deranged, sick people.
Replying to @qbms9197
If ICE agents want to shoot people in the streets, there’s no obligation for any of us, including the nypd to protect them.
In fact, the nypd should be arresting and detaining THEM.
Instead not only are they letting them walk away from a killing but also then shielding them.
Commie corridor doesn't care what is happening in the rest of NYC. ICE has been raiding the Bronx and non gentrified parts of Queens and Brooklyn for months.

This is the idea mornonic leftist don't understand. Their ideas on crime and public safety is not aligned with reality. So the leaders that they vote in do two things with regards to policing, disappoint them and actually govern, or listen to them and last one term.

Huge kudos to the governor for bucking the unions and saying yes.

I've been saying this would happen for over a year now
Any socialist politician who moderates enough to actually get anything done will inevitably be denounced as an establishment shill
It happened to AOC, it's happening to Zohran now, it'll happen to El-Sayed if he wins
