Sad to hear of the passing of Scottish writer Gerry Loose. He gave us a wonderful poem for 100 Poems to Save the Earth. His work around nature and the more than human was really important. Rest in power, Gerry. @SerenBooks @kenfigdunes @ModronMagazine
ALT am glacier rolling back am tsunami am beaching whale am the bones of every curlew am stag starving on hill am hawk down to bone am wilt of green plant am ribcage hind am salmon infested with lice am the end of words am burning teardrop am salt ocean in woodland am plastic in every pore am head burst with fire who gouges & grubs blue mountains who trudges the crescent moon who stores suns in buried bunkers who leaches the fecund topsoils whose alibi is god who stands at the edge who holds back the typhoon
We’re saddened to learn about the passing of poet Gerry Loose on 30th April in Rothesay. His recognitions include the Robert Louis Stevenson fellowship.
Gerry worked with Hidden Gardens in Glasgow and in Glasgow’s Botanic Gardens, which has both inscribed work and a planting - the Kaki Tree - a sapling grown from seed of a surviving persimmon tree after the 1945 atomic bombing of Nagasaki.
