ALT Cryotherapy post-surgery is widely used for rehabilitation, but optimal skin temperature during cold therapy remains uncertain. While prior research suggests maintaining the knee skin temperature at 10-15°C for therapeutic benefits and avoiding cold injuries, recent studies with cryocompression devices lowering temperatures to <10°C showed minimal complications. The specific temperature range for cryocompression devices to achieve therapeutic benefits is unknown. These devices, typically featuring cuffs and connecting tubes, vary in controlling ice water temperature. However, the correlation between water temperature control and achieved skin temperatures during cryotherapy is unclear. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of five cryocompression devices in lowering skin temperature within the therapeutic range for post-operative care.
