AFAF did its daily check of websites - including UCU, UUK, teacher unions and a sample of universities - and can find no comment on the murder of Samuel Paty and the need to defend free speech. This is a disgraceful. @UniversitiesUK @ucu @DrJoGrady @EISUnion @NASUWT @NationalEdu

Today student led demonstrations took place at BLMS and BLHS as part of the National School Walkout. Students gathered together for 17 minutes, one minute for every victim in Parkland, FL. Great teachable moments for our staff/students.

You can’t preach student voice & not support them today. Proud of the countless students that stood up for themselves & showed courage, yet showed respect & civility at the same time. Contrary from what we see from many adults, discourse CAN be civil, productive, and meaningful.
Only you can defeat the brand happiness by not allowing the company you work for trap you in mass employment pools. Unions are a great concept.. yet they do not help workers like they use to. Just a sense of false hope.

Public schools give you the tools to unlock the universe. They just don't educate you in that everything you do is monitored from pre-K to TOD.. let them know you're conscience in your dreams.. that's one thing they haven't been able to control.

Apparently the Teachers at this High School we’re pressured NOT to Fail Students so School could make it’s “Numbers”. Do they realize that most of these Kids will likely Fail College AND at LIFE, if taught they can get by with Minimum Effort. Heads should roll over this outrage. xitter.cf/conservativetht/status…
Almost Every Graduate Of DC High School Was Truant... Nearly Half Missed More than 3 Months! Yet ALL Were Accepted To College. How were they even Allowed to Pass their Classes or Graduate? Automatic Advancement is NOT Compassionate! bit.ly/2k8E4Xm

It's good that a leading member of the media commentariat is now stating the obvious: that teaching matters and that it's hard work.
