Did anyone else have @F1 F1TV randomly cancel their subscription today? Mine was paid in full for the whole year and now it no longer works. Can't get in touch with anyone at F1TV customer support. #fail

Well @twitter, it’s been real. I tried coming back, grooming my feed, and focusing on the positive, but because of how your platform works, all the acrimony and bullshit still finds its way into my feed. I hope that someday you re-prioritize on the human experience.

So with that. I’m out. If word reaches me that things are better, maybe I’ll give it another go. Until then, and while you remain the world’s most efficient distribution channel for hate and nonsense, I’ll be spending my attention elsewhere. Please do better in my absence.

I wholesale reject the idea that you should subject yourself to nonsense under the pretense that it’s egalitarian, or worse, that it’s good for you. Read a book you disagree with and then purge your social internet experience like you’d expel a wasp’s nest from your bedroom.

I just want to shout out @donttrythis, who is taking time out of his surely busy schedule of making stuff and being awesome to sincerely and kindly respond to so many people on twitter whose ignorance and small mindedness are not worth anyone’s time, let alone his. #vote
The line for early voting in downtown Chicago is literally around the block. That’s so encouraging. I just dropped my mail-in ballot off at the election commission personally. My civic duty is done, how about you? #vote

I really dislike it when people tag me in giveaway posts on Instagram.

Yup. They’re the only ones who work to actively safeguard my privacy and don’t sell my data. For me, this covers a multitude of other sins (dongles anyone?).

I’ve had friends who are sure that voting doesn’t matter, that the system is rigged and the outcome fixed. I’ve never believed this, but the flagrant, systematic Republican efforts at voter suppression is evidence I never considered before. Gerrymandering is another.
If your vote didn’t matter, they wouldn’t be trying so hard to keep you from voting.

There’s an ugly undercurrent of willful ignorance in our society right now — a refusal to contend with reality. We hide inside our echo chambers and cling tightly to only that with which we agree. Curiosity and intellectual honesty are our only hope.

Preach.
Dear nearly every hotel in the world -- If need be, please make your rooms $1-10 more expensive and stop charging people for fucking wifi. In this day and age, it's like having a surcharge for toilet paper or water.

It’s truly amazing how just 10 min of Headspace-style meditation is like releasing an army of nanobots to repair my brain. It’s calming, restorative, and sharpening. It has given me back my mind in ways that are hard to articulate.

Yes. This.
Heard a Burt Reyonds story: He was doing VO for GTA IV, long session, tons of dialogue, he's sweating, tired. Producer said, "Burt, need anything?" Burt goes, "Every once in a while, just gimme an 'Atta boy, Burt.' Let me know I'm doing okay.'" Anyhow, Atta boy, Burt. RIP

Agree 100% I think it’s especially bad advice for entrepreneurs. For young people, they should know there are also a ton of things that happen up and downstream of code: research, ux, visual (graphic) design, content strategy, writing — all in-demand and lucrative.
