More residents finishing yesterday and new interns starting Monday, so here’s another of my #tips4newdocs:
Speak/be nice to EVERYONE you work with- not just the docs/ nurses. Janitors, cafeteria workers, and administrative staff often feel ignored by us, but can save your butt!

Finished last year of training 10 yrs ago. I am more senior than more than half the docs in my hospital. I am no longer considered "new in practice" by any metric. It's a weird feeling to be grizzled. However, tomorrow I will still see things I have never seen before. #pathology

nice case of clear cell RCC with rhabdoid differentiation (required CAP synoptic element)
Striking rhabdoid differentiation in a case of clear cell RCC. Note the eccentric nuclei, vesicular chromatin, prominent nucleoli, and the distinctive intracytoplasmic hyaline globules. #GUPath #RenalPath #Pathology #SurgPath
Visceral invasion/ penetration beyond elastic layer (arrows) by adenocarcinoma ~1 см in greatest dimension upgrades the tumor from pT1 to pT2a! When in doubt elastic stain works! #lungcancer #lungpath

Puetz-Jeghers polyps love to undergo intussusception and this can result in herniation of glands (pseudoinvasion/enteritis cystica profunda pattern), sometimes all the way through to the serosa. This can be a fooler for adenocarcinoma. Beware!
