JUST IN: The Uganda Communications Commission has ordered a temporary shutdown of public internet access and selected mobile services from 6:00pm on January 13, 2026, during the election period.
The directive affects public internet access, SIM card sales and registration, and outbound data roaming, with exemptions granted to essential services such as healthcare, banking, and government systems.

The NGO Bureau has suspended the license of @acmeafrica over allegations of engaging in "activities which are prejudicial to the security and the laws of Uganda.”
Founder @pmwesige has confirmed the suspension describing it as a move to silence the scrutiny of public affairs

We need to get in MPs who will push for a private members bill to amend Physical Planning Act and the Building Control Act to make sure city/urban planners, physical planning committees/ building committees directly culpable for oversight failures, collusion, inadequate enforcement etc. Too much BS going on because no one is on the chopping board.
