Let’s be perfectly clear: the privilege was mine. My students were ridiculously smart (obviously) but also, interesting and thoughtful people. And then there’s @scottjshapiro. Brilliant scholar, a true polymath, and a gracious colleague. It was a tremendous experience.
Replying to @scottjshapiro
Also, teaching with @NatSecLisa was so much fun. She is a brilliant lawyer and fantastic teacher.
One thing Director @Comey always used to say is that it’s hard to hate up close. This interaction is the perfect example of that.
Lol just gonna put this right here for safekeeping
I always fail in answering this inquiry, I think because I never saw survival as a "choice." I just got up and got through every day. This morning, in therapy, I finally understood that the real meaning of this question is how does one live through such public embarrassment 5/
I've learned that life's reward is surviving the fire and remaining the person you want to be. That like forging steel, one's power is made perfect in weakness. That even when you are lonely or scared, the gift is in LIVING.

I wept to discover this tree on its side, its purple fruit still ripening, unaware of its inevitable demise.
Despite having this tree over a decade, I can't talk about it, I can't even think about it now, without thinking about the line G. Washington sings in @HamiltonMusical:
We bought this scrawny little guy at a farmers market in N.C. just shortly after we bought our house. In the decade that has passed, this little twig grew into a majestic tree, one which every August produced more figs than we and all our friends could possibly consume. 2/
This is so important. There is the powerless you feel in the face of threats, and in my case, some bonus slut-shaming, but I also think it’s critical to remember that being targeted in this way is a very lonely, isolating experience. Which, of course, is the point.

This election is about patriotism, not policy or politics.
This is a powerful, moving statement from @GenMhayden. I implore you to heed its message.
NEW AD: Former Director of the CIA under Bush @GenMhayden: "If there is another term for Trump, I don't know what happens to America."
He's supporting @JoeBiden.
Watch his moving testimonial.
Instead of doomscrolling, I decided do something productive with my time — so I donated to Lawfare. This publication is really important to people in government trying to hold the line. We read it daily. 1/

When they ship me off to Girly Gitmo and take away my ability to send texts, I hope I’ll still at least have access to lawfareblog.com. 2/
